Attended St. Ives several times in 77, drove up from South Wales a few times, but also went up on the Cheltenham coach.....seems a slight irony that I end up living there (Chetenham that is) just under 30 years later.....They were great times indeed!

  8. Naively, a group who's material I overlooked at the outset, but like "You got the love I need" and their version of "Save my love for a rainy day" immensely
  9. Neil, Whilst appreciating several of the recent Inferno releases have been on the( lookalike )HIB label, of which was based in Detroit, and with the further link to the Motor City being courtesy of Robert Bateman, where were the "current" crop of releases on the logo recorded originally? Kind Regards Mike Wilks

I remember either buying/trading this off Keith Williams at one of the Lea Manor all-nighters when it was getting big plays, and as stated previously, the place had a certain something at the time that was a bit different from the "norm" and its punters made for great company in what I personally revere as one of my favourite all-nighters to date ........such a shame to see it in its current guise
  11. Big Bump for this item, desperately want this.....PM me if you can spare it
  12. If anyone has a minty-Ex copy of the Volumes 45 as listed at a reasonable price, please PM me ONLY.... Kind Regards wilxy

Not being in the right place at the right time seems, moreover in particular to Soul Source, my mainstay of purchase TBH, whilst it's nice to pick up the odd lesser known obscurity....Being on the ball for the Big Hitters, is not one of my forte's sadly......alas"I will prevail".....hopefully
  17. I can't say I know that......Very Nice

Then there's the "antedote".....Seeing a record listed that totally melts you......thinking, you're"on the ball" with regard to timing......only to find out you've missed it and actually six people before you had a claim on it before you......such a deflating moment .......(Sorry Reg, missed another one).....Ignore me anyway
  19. Yep Monticellos for me too
  20. I have collected and sold 3 fairly decent collections since starting out early to mid 1970's, collected for the love of the music within said collection, and sold for needs and must as and when....etc....... I had vowed on selling my third, that it would be my last, back in 2001, alas having kept 50 or so "Classics from the upbeat Motown portfolio", as keepsakes so to speak,it proved to be the catylist for an ever growing collection out of Detroit, which has TBH taken on even more significance, as my previous "ignorance" of the producers/artist(e)s/studios,etc.,etc. has been overtaken by belated but respectful smittance, and moreover love of everything incorporated with most things soulfully vinyl "out of Michigan" ....... Whilst it's highly unlikely I'll ever get anywhere need the overall pinacle of the perfect Detroit collection.....it's even more unlikely that I'll give up trying to get there....... wilxy
  21. Matt , Whilst musical ethos is not in question, from a personal perspective, and whilst my personal taste contains most sub-genres within "our musical spectrum"....I for one get bored shitless listening to either one hour sets of "bland" Funk, R&B, Latin, etc so I find myself preferring hearing DJ's who can entertain ME with unknown/semi-known Uptempo 60's/70's Soul......The reason I got hooked in the first place....... And furthermore still excites me to this day
  22. Mark, Where have I used the word "ONLY" relating to the "hobby"? LOL! Like you say, we're not into first or second collections, and from a personal perspective and moreover so "late in the day"......I'm probably chasing certain virtually unobtainable Top end Detroit pieces that I would have struggled to obtain even during the halcyon days, and whilst I approach the pensionable stage, I doubt I will obtain them from pensionable income, unless I either win the lottery......or discover time travel, and my way to the Motor City..... at least in the interim
