I think it would have been Siz writing as it was New Soultime .Dave McAdden had been run out of town by then .1978 was a weird year as that playlist suggests .Some brilliant new tunes still happening but some utter dross Sammy Davis jnr ! Alan Rhodes and Richard Searling spots were the highlight of the night and the Trade Martin track was defo in there although yet another record that was booted too soon . Running a booted too soon list would be interesting .So many great tunes booted or reissued before they were given a really good run ?

The Austin fair certainly was not awash with them .Simply one dealer had found some old ex juke box vendor stock in the New Orleans area .I suspect more than anything the outrageous price Guitar Ray is selling for at the moment is bringing other copies out and people are cashing in while the price is high .Guitar Ray is not the only “not rare” record that sells for eye watering sums .

A small box of guitar ray was found in the New Orleans area some ex juke box some nm .25 count at the most .Considering that it was a minor hit in New Orleans this is probably the only area it has ever turned up.The chances of more turning up are unlikely as i am sure we are all aware of what Katrina did to a large part of the city .It is nothing more sinister

I am ashamed to say i missed last Saturday i had a pre booked night out with a few double jabbed record men in Crewe before heading over to the record fair in Newcastle under Lyme on Sunday. Over the last year or so i have tuned into several of the nights and had the pleasure of playing a few tunes on three occasions ..Every time i tuned in i had a pen and paper at the ready to scribe down the titles of the gems that were being spun.Yes i am a nerd .Each session produced a surprisingly diverse range of music and every time i listened in it cost me a few quid on discogs or ebay or wherever.Each dj that played understood that Bury was not just about playing their most expensive tunes .The job in hand was to entertain and play a few curve balls tunes that deserve a spin but often get lost or forgotten when there is a dance floor to please. .Hats off to Simon and Barry and all involved including everyone that joined in with the live chat(we now all know that Nigel doesn't like Latin ) .When we were all going insane over the last year BVAN gave us something to look forward to and something quite unique and special.A big thank you to you all T

A few missing my filing system is not the best .Wendy Rene after the laughter is the one that has genuinely disappeared.Should be in stax but god knows where it has got to .I am hoping it turns up one day .Had a few went missing in my youth but that was due to living in mixed households and light fingered “friends” .Even worse had records boxes stolen on two separate occasions in my youth
