Think you have nailed it Paul

Bobby Sheen Something New To Do
Why would his stock of a new release be white label demos?
-
Ewf Tickets
Indeed it is - but everyone wants an artists recorded material for nothing so this is how artists earn their income now.

News: Are Re-Edits And Mash Ups Killing Soul Music?
This has been the talk of Radio 4 lately, i think it works..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doz1QJ7LwjA

It's a floor packer at 'Just Soul' Ian

News: Are Re-Edits And Mash Ups Killing Soul Music?
Exactly - they oversaw the the process and decided to 'bang 'em out' , but it was their choice and as such was part of the creative process - for better or worse Not waiting 40 years and adding football crowd noises to a perfect Aretha track and making it sound like Footsee complete with the Sheff Wed fans !!

News: Are Re-Edits And Mash Ups Killing Soul Music?
Were they 're-edits' or 'remixes' ? and surely the contemporaneous re-mixes - for radio, 45 or 12 or whatever - were done by the original creative (and talented) people who had an input into the original creative process?

John Ellison (Soul Brothers Six) performing Live - 6 Dates 2013
following on from Jocko's question - will he have a band backing him? I see the Blackburn ticket arrangements have been announced but no mention of a band - the tickets prices seem very reasonable for a a live act.

Acapella
They are of course interesting in their own right - it is lovely to hear all the nuances and timbre of Levi's voice in particular
-
Acapella
Those Motown things are not Acapella!! There are simply isolated vocal tracks - as much as I love Marvin and Levi - they could not sing that good and in time without backing. The Persuasions, however, are the real deal.

Acapella
here you go....music and all! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyQwBA02I0Q
-
Acapella
I don't think he is singing accapella - it is just the isolated vocal track - I think he is lip syncing to the original track - then the isolated vocal is overdubbed. Originally he would of been singing to a musical backing.

Not sure this is a problem with Cd's/MP3's , rather it is a problem with your friend

Roger St Pierre
Always looked forward to his Soul column in New Musical Express (NME). Always struck me as an intelligent writer on the subject. He sold a lot of 45s a year or two back on ebay and I managed to get demos of Johnny Daye on UK Stax and the Originals on UK TM. He did write his name on all of them covers as well, just adds a bit of provenance for me

Phil Int Musings
Think he means that the issue with 'Never Let You Get Away From Me' is rare - unsually for a 45 it is longer than the LP take. If you just want 'Never Repay My Love' it is available cheaply as a Mono/stereo demo.
-
Phil Int Musings
Of course it was around as a new release. I guess all records were - I got 'Good and Plenty' on issue then but I only picked up a demo of JGTBMC at the time - would like an issue but I'm not interested in any rarity status so would only pay a modest amount. But if you look at ebay now all are mono/stereo demos as are the copies of Good & Plenty I got my Bobby Bennett issue off Ian Clark at Soul Essence for £15 - he had multiple copies for a few years.

Phil Int Musings
All of the Caroline Crawford 45's are pretty tough on issue - never had my favourite 'Just got to Be More Careful' on anything but a demo - have the the other two.

John Manship Auction Results 26-6-2013
I appreciate that but what I am highlighting is a snapshot at any time does not throw up a lot of cheap mint sealed copies - condition guaranteed. Yes, the finishing price is a little high but if you collect albums and condition is important and indeed it is the most important thing for me, I can see people being happy to pay it. Just think you could get over 120 £100 LPs for the current price of a single he is currently auctioning - its only relative. Somone sold a battered 45 of Dena Barnes on here yesterday for £200!
