  1. I'm guessing you've seen the 45cat entry -https://www.45cat.com/record/1168
  2. I'm not convinced about 1968. If you take it that Rick Reardon was in The Ambassodors and the Seven Dwarfs (New Severn Dwarfs), then it's unlikely he was in both bands at the same time. Rick was with the Ambassodors when they released Pork Chops in 1965 AND it was noted then that The Ambassodors were successors to the New Seven Dwarfs. I get the fact that only one possible Ambassodor i.e. Rick was in the previous New Severn Dwarfs, but would he have been re-incarnated in 1968 under the 7 Dwarfs?
  3. I thought Grayson and Jordan “ brought” their “thing” to the explanation of N.S. well… Jordon on first hearing The Gambrells and Grayson from his brush with the music from the past. The people who don’t get Northern Soul are typically the people who have nothing to “ bring”. The “bring” part can be deep like Richards 450 odd nighters or less so with Grayson’s obvious joy of dancing till the sweat ran off him.. I just didn’t care for the footage of the Casino, in this context P.S. Posting on mobile without my specs! Sorry if grammar is awful.”
  4. @David Meikle " I’ve got another address for Palmer up near the golf course. It is also good to see Handleman mentioned". Hi David, is that (other address) the Lyndon Ave address that Palmer shared with John Kaplan or vice versa.
  5. from the evening sentinel. It was the start, even though the all nighter started later in '72.
  6. my other passion was playing football. Saturday's and Sunday's and anytime i could during the week. as such i never 'did a full nighter stint'. Sunday morning kick off's...and sometimes a game in the afternoon ( if called upon by another team who was short). I do vividly remember playing on one Sunday morning after a Saturday injury with what should have been a very painful ankle, and not feeling a thing...obviously the “medicine” worked
  7. John Pavlik (Powers) had a 5 year tenure at Motown (which i believe he regarded as not so good). He also mastered for such labels as Capital,Roulette, Warner Brothers, Philly Groove, Epic, Ariola America, and many other labels. Power's entrepreneurial skills resulted in the publishing companies begun by him. Powerhouse Music and Jet-Eye Music, Inc. With Jet-Eye, Powers played a pivotal role in revitalizing the career of his friend George Clinton by licensing Clinton's music to various labels around the world. In 1973 he also owned Discount Tape Shack. I'm prretty sure ( but happy to be corrected) that he was influential at Sound Incorporated and Sidra/Drew Records, the Detroit-area studios and record companies he co-owned in the 1960s and '70s. R.I.P.
  8. I've tried for a long time to find Innersection, so i hope someone comes up with the 'goods'. What do know, and have over the years is here, in the pdf (still under construction) summary.pdf

  10. this was already out...so 1967
  11. @Tommy1 I can tell you a bit about the Shuffle with Ali 45. Jim Riley visited Ali at his hotel suite after the fight with Ernie Terrell in 1967...and took with him the pressing of "Shuffle with Ali". Tucker is Jimmy Tucker. Ali made no money (his religion didn't/doesn't allow it) so it went into the collection plate. So not only was it a fist fight, it was a song writer fight too, with Terrell's "A Hammer & a Nail" (with the Heavyweights).
  12. Northern Soul Connections #31 - Welcome to the latest in this now very long running series of soul connected connections from Ken B aka @Kenb Northern Soul Connections #31 Colstar label, FIRE, VIP's, Magicians A San Francisco Pop Festival that never happened, an associated album of that festival that didn't have the artists perform who were credited on it, and a Kiwi mod behind it. Upfront. I'm genuinely fond of the people and company's written about in this piece. Non of what is written is intended to demean or embarrass any of them. It's just an interesting set of connections. For me, It all started when i came across an Oct 1967 photo of the VIP's and then a February 1967 Californian newspaper article noting their release on Colstar of 'Freedom /I'm Good ForYou'. Umm ...I've seen this waxed pairing before. Where? Yes. I'd seen it on a Discogs album titled 'San Francisco International Pop Festival (Volume 1)' and also followed the thread started in 2015 at 45cat.com, as catalogue 45-1006, artist FIRE, The Sound Of San Francisco. 21. the test for Messi will be if they do indeed face France in the final. Right now, I wouldn't put Messi in my top 6 for this World Cup, but recognize his past performances in other competitions and at club level.
