  1. That is definitely Holly St James. I have the photo.
  2. TBH - i'm reluctant to post. I wonder if her mystery should remain? i'm not trying to be enigmatic either - it's just a page of interesting stuff i have, and nothing dubious that would cause any embarrassment...it's just that she, and maybe others that must know this story ( e.g. Richard Searling certainly knows she's Italian, a grandmother, christened Lorraine) may want to keep it that way. I'll have to think about it a bit more
  3. I’ll post up this evening. i had always assumed “what i have on her” was known... but now I think it isn’t.
  4. I was searching for something recently and came across info on Holly St James i've never seen before!( i.e. not the stuff on You Tube, etc) how she started, real name, etc. I did a quick search and found You Tube vids with notes with a little bit of bio stuff ( Italian, Lorraine, and a picture (which i also have)... SO.... I don't want to put it up on here (and feel foolish) if the Soul Source readers already have this info. Please JUST PM me if you want me to post it up.
  5. I guess it is Chalky. I was reading about Berry Gordy donating $4m to the Hitsville museum and didn't realise it (vid) was one-of -the-same.

  9. seeing as it is Motown's 60 yr celebration weekend... In 1970 Diana bought the Beverly Hills mansion owned by Donald Factor, son of Max Factor the make-up king. Price $300,000. Whereas, this was her childhood home on Belmont St, Detroit.
  10. Jean Terrell had a puppy called Floy-Joy. It was around the time she was with Lynda Laurence and Mary (Mary's puppy was a gift from Flip Wilson).

  14. Ritz. Mid 80’s. I know not which year? memorable for 2 reasons; 1. There was a buzz about a recent UK appearance of Popcorn Wylie. 2. It was my one and only ‘return’ until about 2012.

  20. @Blackpoolsoul During the article research, I spent hours looking through Obit’s, etc, and never found any ancestry connection on any (relevant) Blevins for ‘a Boyd’. I couldn’t find any connection with Mary Blevins, Paul (Windy/Wendy) Blevins, or any of the Blevins associated with the Popcorn supplies and equipment outfit located on Charlotte Ave, Nashville. I did find Boyd Blevins turning up on Jim Stanton’s Rich-R-Tone 8015 Gross Brothers, “The Little Puppy (You Gave Me)”, 1968. Gross Brothers did appear on WZIP (see Northern Connections #19 para Writer Dyche, for more on WZIP & Ray Pennington ). I also found Charlie Boyd as writer on Champ 2004, The Minors “ Lonely Boy / Unchained Melody” (not Charles Boyd from Chicago). But who knows?

  23. Sad news indeed. When I was researching the Philharmonics (and Tony Owens) Northern Connection number(?), many of the people I spoke to and contacted by other means always raised his name, and whenever I read anything to do with N.O. music history he was right there. RIP.
