  1. I agree entirely. Maria took over and stated 'You've just heard the rare but now you're going to hear the very rare'. Absolutely brilliant, what a put down, I laughed for hours. Maria denied saying it when we next met. Doesn't bother me in the slightest As an aside, on another occasion at Stubshaw, I was on after them and Carl asked me what I was thinking of playing. I mentioned about 6 tunes and guess what, he played all of them whilst smiling at me, and me laughing my head off. They did have a full dancefloor when he spun them👍😁😁 Happy days, happy stories.
  2. I met Leavanna and her mum a few years ago at Campisoul in Spain. Really nice people who had a good dance all night. Regarding younger people joining us oldies, I DJ'd at Winsford for Andy McCabe, again a few years ago and there were lots of young soulies in attendance who were really 'up for it' and danced the whole time. It could have been because I'm a great DJ🤣 or because they just love the music. Mind you, they did dance to Carl and Maria who were on after me, so maybe it was the music!
  3. I have one of these with quite heavily scratched in matrix A-23115-2 and A-23116-2 on B side ( No AT at the end) Manship says the originals have this heavy scratched matrix number but with other stamped markings which mine doesn't have. He says the boots have light scratched matrix reading A-23116 SP I'm thinking it's a boot but can anyone help verify please? TIA Julian
  4. Columbia original demo. Thanks Julian

  7. We need someone to buy our old vinyl😇
  8. Guess where it has just gone on sale at £5250?🤐🤔☹
  9. Read somewhere that Adele and Ed Sheeran have booked all the major pressing plants to get their latest LPs pressed. A shop on the Wirral is refusing to stock the LPs as they are stopping other artists getting their stuff pressed and out for sale.
  10. Thanks, you are obviously computer literate than me! One of the photos shows the glacier at El Calaphete in Patagonia. We were there in 2018.
  11. It's under 20 photographs of the week. It shows a couple of houses on a mountain side almost submerged in ash. I've tried to upload this for 30 minutes without success!☹
  12. Don't know how to attach a photo but if you go onto the Gaurdian top 20 photos and look at the La Palma 'ash' photo I think you will be amazed.
  13. Dave Moore was telling me about a 45 like this a few weeks ago. Think it was Philip Mitchell but can't remember! Dave, if you read this, perhaps you can enlighten us?
  14. Having read this thread, I losing the will to live!☹
  15. Serious question Do any of you regular DJS play it slowed down a bit?
  16. Hi Chalky, didn't realise the Soulettes was so rare. Got to agree about the dance floor reaction. Last time I played it, think Mojacar 2019, it was probably the least danced to. Four Voices filled the floor though! Happy belated birthday by the way. Julian and Carolyn xx
  17. Sorry to sound stupid but which Four Voices and Soulettes tracks are you talking about? Your love is getting stronger Bring your fine self home
  18. I think if it was run over by a lorry, the size of a cardboard box would have made no difference to the end result to Don!!☹
  19. Does the WD copy skip?
  20. I'm old enough to remember when bootlegs drove down the price of originals. Jeff King and his Soul Sounds, Simon Soussan, Selectadisc, OOTP releases etc. I snagged an original Sandi Sheldon demo around 1971 for £8 only for it to be booted and available for 90p the following week. Nobody was then interested in the original😪 Thankfully things have changed for the better👍
  21. If he has, it's his first 'original 45' purchase!🤣🤣🤣
  22. The vg copy on ebay didn't take long to sell at $3700 earlier today
  23. Nothing to do with the query but 'Docker' from Gloucester (I think that's correct, my memory is going a bit) had the first copy that was played at the Wheel. He brought it to Lord Jim's in Huddersfield where I gave it a spin! Happy days
  24. I get asked to play this by the organiser of a local event, which I do for charity, as it is her favourite tune. Last time I was there, another DJ played it on a 'bootleg. The organiser was absolutely furious and told him to $%#& off!🤣
