  1. Is it just me, but does this sound like Petula Clark?
  2. Seem to remember this being played at Blackpool Mecca
  3. One man's meat is another man's poison! I heard a record on Sunday and I thought what's this rubbish? Some people danced to it so obviously they didn't think the same as me. If we all liked the same music what a boring scene it would be. I rest my case😁
  4. Heard Sam play it at Culcheth a couple of months ago. He didn't play it a the Skegness Weekender 'cause I played mine first!🤣
  5. No pressure there then!
  6. Remember travelling to the Torch in Les Cokell's van when he got the 'horrors' and went into a service station toilet and wouldn't come out! We got him to throw the keys under the door and we proceeded on our way. We picked Les up later that morning on the way back😇😂
  7. Anyone know if this is a 'new find' or one of the few already known copies? Just interested.
  8. Original UK issue in EX condition. Company sleeve £65 Inc reg post. PayPal F&F or bank transfer please. PM to buy/questions etc Thanks for looking Julian 20240927_131958.mp4
  9. Spent many summer holidays in Mablethorpe as a youngster. Great cricketing sand!😁👍
  10. Just browsing general sales and there is a badge listed for sale that states' Wigan casino 500th allnighter May 16th 1981' - surely a misprint or are Russ Winstanley etc all older than they admit and was this the first allnighter starting 40 years before the Twisted Wheel 🤣
  11. Was the number one sound listed as Joe Matthews I don't like to lose a cover up of Cecil Washington?
  12. Thanks Chalky. Good to see you at Culcheth the other week👍
  13. Not read the whole thread. Are you talking about Gavin Stearn?
  14. Sorry, very senior moment!
  15. Didn't the LP come with the 45 inside?
  16. I walk to the pub most days😇
  17. Anyone know how much the Tomangoes went for 2 weeks ago? TIA Julian
  18. If you do a search on here, I sold a still sealed original earlier this year with all the relevant details
  19. Les Cokell did some spots. Unfortunately he is no longer with us.
  20. Couple of nice stories about Carl. I was djing at Stubshaw the spot after after him and Maria. Chatting before our spots he casually asked me what I was thinking of playing. I foolishly mentioned around six tunes. He proceeded to play all of them before me whilst smiling sweetly at me. I was laughing my head off. Another time I was on before them and Carl came on and said "thanks to Julian for the last hour, you've heard the rare, now you're going to hear the very rare". We both laughed the night away. RIP Carl and condolences to Maria and family.
  21. Off topic as well. I went to the Wheel with the Leeds and Huddersfield crowd + Les Cokell, John Bollen, Frannie O'Brien, Jimmy Lightbrown etc. First met Ian Levine on the night he first visited. Dj'd at Lord Jims 1969 - 72 ( carrying on the Wheel tunes, Dave Godin attended and mentioned in B&S + Graham White AKA Docker came with a copy of the Sharpees Do the 45 when it was seriously rare and indemand)) + Hernies Allnighters and other Yorkshire nights ( can't honestly remember but Normie Baths, a do in Selby, Leeds Central all ring a bell in my dim and distant memory inc a birthday do Barnsley way when the squad raided and closed it down! The rest is history. Happy days.
  22. I play this occasionally as my last 45. I always ask the crowd ' do you remember what you said to your Mum and Dad when you went out on a Saturday night? 😁🤣😂😁😇
  23. I stopped collecting around 74 so I'm thinking I got one from Bradford Market unheard and then went back to get their other copies after playing it at home. I'd stopped DJing at the time so never got to play it out☹
