  4. that's probilbly the right way, I was just pointing that out before you did too much work, they can be funny sometimes I remember stories of rival publications advertising being turned down and I don't think they do 'give' anything away.... good luck!
  5. would blues and soul allow you to use their charts for a book?im thinking they wouldn't at least without permission...
  6. I think manship actually got just over 200 pounds then weeks later one sold on ebay for 8 quid, the person that paid 200 for that had to be nuts

  9. dave there was a promotional shop poster too big for me scan but i have half on my computer anyway heres the half
  10. of course he has to scan them for the auction but i dont believe thats the original scan and even if that is the original scan why should he think he can copy items that dont belong to him and post them on his facebook page and i also dont believe they are copies of a similar item as two of these items are one off copies save for possibly file copies
  11. a few years ago i needed to raise some money and i sold some things in manships auction, i had various records and some memorabelia all was well with the records cant complain at the prices i got that just left 2 lots of memorabelia months and months passed and they never went on by this time i didnt need the money anymore so i contacted him, i recieved apologies was told they had got a bit buried and i was assured they would go on in the next auction. the items firstly a three piece mirwood lot a jackie lee promo photo a 3 page letter from jackie lee [earl cosby] to mirwood asking to be relieved of his contract and an olympics royalty statement, and the final item was a soultown younghearts promo photo which john had said to me in my original phone conversation 'thats the one'! sure enough the next week the triple mirwood item went on and the younghearts didnt, when i left for work on the final day of the auction the mirwood items items only had a bid of £20 i was quite concerned but i thought well it will go up at the end. on returning home i was mortified to turn on my computer to see they sold for £20 i was so sorry id ever done it because id have sooner stuck them on my toilet wall. a few days later i recieved an e.mail from johns secretary saying johns not sure what he can achieve for the younghearts photo anymore however he would like to make an offer for it for his own collection which i declined and took it back. i was telling a friend this story the other day and when i came home tonight i had a message from this frend telling me to look at manships facebook page and there are the mirwood items for all to see on his page. what do other members think ? i know what i do.......
  12. didnt somebody suggest on here in the recent past that a vocal version does exist?
  13. thats the one i mean really i actually think there are a few versions, theres a male version of your face keeps haunting me too
  14. but by the time these records came out on tomorrow most had had a life at the mecca so it was no fantastic thing when wigan got them, heres ians acetates, heres the 10" one off herb rooney did for ian and james wells, there were unreleased and different versions of things on acetate too anyone got any? ill try to find some things later and heres a teaser who knew blackpool mecca had its own orchestra?!!
  15. there was, he was at the tommy hunt all nighter i sat with him in mikes office for hours a really nice guy but totaly delusional about spark releases he asked me my honest opinion on the spark catalogue i answered in my honest opinion he seemed shocked and even upset, i felt bad after but he asked me..
  16. i was reading a web site once about english dances and it said there was one in the 60s called the spaz you can only imagine, and totally un p.c!
  17. but for me it and i suspect many others it would have been a long and uncomfortable wait to get to that point i couldnt have done it and with the passing of time im pleased i never, there were better places to go
  18. as said above wigan was great for the first 18 months but then it all went downhill, a lot of the people that were joining the scene at that time were likely to have been there because a mate might have said 'hey i go to this great club want to come on saturday' rather be drawn to it like a magnet like previous kids were, so when russ dropped footsie they thought thats what it was standards dropped and things got silly. personally i wish we were looking back at a wigan without russ, i know it was his baby but i sure wish it had been someone elses and we wouldnt be reading this topic today...
  19. seriously though if you took out what had gone before wigan and blackpool mecca discoveries you wouldnt be left with much would you? [above list]
  20. interestingly [for me] last year in france i was going to my neighbours house to play and talk records, hes black and heavily into soul and funk. when i got there he was in a haze of smoke and playing a paul anka c.d, he asked me if i liked him before i had a chance to reply he said i like paul anka he sings like a f*ckin black man! he didnt know CHLY ill take it to him next mont i know he will flip out
  21. i agree never wanted to listen to dance to or own any of those records i always thought i would leave that kind of stuff to my mum and dad where it seemed to be much more suitable.
