Soul Source Grading System Not Working For Me
I think the main thing here is that the grades sellers use are understood by the buyers. The Soul Source recommended system lists the condition by the grade. So if a seller states in the ad he is using that system you know, as the buyer, what you should to be getting. Any seller is free to use another grading system where EX replaces VG++. As some have pointed out VG++ is used on US sites and is equivalent to EX which is more often used in the UK It's not an exact science so there is no definite answer as to which system to use. Personally I see what top grade is and if by the time I'm at VG+ and there is M, M- Ex+, Ex, EX- above it then I'm thinking the 45 is far from Mint, especially if those grades are not spelt out. My advice to buyers is make sure you know what each grade stands for and check feedback record for the seller. ROD [Forum Moderator]

The Originals - Suspicion
I can't Jocko. I'll ask Dave but he's as bad as me. I am making copious notes now so I won't be caught out when this conversation comes up in April 2037. I do remember though these tracks not exactly setting dance floor alight at first. ROD
-
The Originals - Suspicion
No idea Chalky though I think LP turned up not long after we started playing them. Within a year maybe or even less ? Unfortunately at the time I didn't realise we should have been taking notes ! As for the acetates Im sure I've spoken to Bob a couple of times about some acetates finding their way to a dealer in LA but Bob can't remember and I'm vague about it cos I thought it was Bob who told me and name of dealer is gone from my memory. ROD

The Originals - Suspicion
I'd believe Jocko before me and Dave! I think it was '81 when I was at Bob's and got the tape. Bob may remember. ROD

The Originals - Suspicion
I've no longer got original tape Bob. Long time ago and a couple of house moves. I've also not really kept up with history as to different versions cropping up or how they compare to each other. So it definitely wasn't speeded up to appeal to the dance floor. It was perfect as it was. I've read this many a time and I kinda assumed that maybe Robb's tapedeck was the reason but it could be just different versions it seems. Dave and I did do some tapes around the time of our Stafford playlist inc some of the Motown. I believe some of those may have been faulty and played fast, and as we cut our acetates off Bob's tape I guess there was nothing to stop others cutting acetates from those. I do know John Manship had nothing to do with those tracks first getting aired. There was some "dodgy" LP with Motown cuts doing the rounds a little later. No idea where that came from but it seemed to be mostly the cuts Bob unearthed and played to me which we then used at Stafford. ROD

**clear Out 45's - Crossover, 70's, Sweet & Funky
On this site it is up to the seller to give a full description. This is not E Bay. I know what the 45 is. The "second pressing or boot" reference is the wording in the guidelines. This applies equally to legit re-issues, which is what it was. As long as buyer was fully aware of what he was buying then there is no problem in this instance but I reiterate when selling on here full descriptions are given. There are those out there who are not so knowledgeable as others. This protects both seller and buyer and prevents disputes arising after sale ROD

**clear Out 45's - Crossover, 70's, Sweet & Funky
Just looking at this ad. What exactly is a silver/brown issue of Towanda Barnes ? Is this a later re-issue ? If so can I draw your attention to sales guidelines particularly 3. Details of artist, title and label are clear and accurate particularly where there may be doubt as to second pressings or boots. If it was a re-issue that should be stated in the ad. Thank you ROD [Forum Moderator]

I wouldn't get too excited mate. Had a few early Motowns to sell last couple of years and not much demand. I'd start low-ish on Ebay. ROD

Offers On The Dibango 45 Ending Tomorrow :: Reminder
Yes apart from after reposting you wait 7 days till next time. Have you not read the guidelines ? After 7 days kicks in I hope most members recall old adage of flogging a dead horse. ROD

Offers On The Dibango 45 Ending Tomorrow :: Reminder
Yes it was a bit pointless bumping old thread. Didn't notice that. And Pete as long as 3 days elapsed ads can be reposted. In between bumping ads is not allowed. You can edit original ad to add info like price reductions or stating "SOLD" Not comments like "Still here" "Bargain" etc. Otherwise everybody would be bumping ads. Of course "bumping" no longer moves ad up the list in Sales section. This is an auction so reposting is best way to do it so members are aware. ROD
