  1. Just weekends and call me Doris !
  2. I know I should get exercised about all this but whilst old boots seem to be sold by everybody, and the only eyebrow raised is the price some fetch, then I just see it as a double standard. Only thing that seperates them is time. And I have 2 boots of Mayfield Singers and Jimmy Ruffin. Only way I could get on vinyl. And yes I have Ruffin CD. So now and again the bootleggers do provide a service which the legit companies dont. ROD
  3. Agree about the flute intro sound - which capturers the Tudor period, rather well ! It wasn't just me then Nick ! ROD
  4. There's dreadful and then there is this ! Beginning reminds me of some medieval madrigal or suchlike. On the whole not that keen. ROD
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5WEQ8j1Me0 Ila Vann.
  6. Yes if this is a re-issue/boot then you are required to state that in the ad to avoid any confusion. Please read the Sales guidelines ROD [Forum Moderator]
  7. As far as I know the seller had picked it up years ago and didn't realise it was anything so sold it for a good offer to Phil W. I hope that's not supposed to be a secret ! ROD
  8. Got a soft spot for that "Cheyenne" Promised Land, mainly cos I expect it to turn up on a proper label one day ! The Michael Rubini was new to me. Bit "California Montage" I thought. ROD
  9. One turned up in UK. Recently exchanged hands I believe. ROD
  10. Or just post them all in the same ad. Not today as you have two ads posted but tomorrow is fine. And please read your PMs. Thanks ROD
  11. Yoo-hoo !!!!!! Please stop posting ads NOW ROD
  12. I PM'd you on the 19th to advise you that ads are limited to 2 per day. You have not read it. Please read the Sales guidelines before you post ads. Today I have merged the three Gaynor ads into one and removed six other ads. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  13. Sorry Tony no. More into mid 60's + group and midtempo Northern and Detroit. Kell is a bit early for me and Betty sounds as "poppy" as say Caswell 45. Thanks anyway ROD
  14. I thought it a worthwhile discussion to have Ian. Expectation v. reality. As Andy had priced up his wants I figured it was also not like he was hoping to get them way under value from some unsuspecting punter. He states what he wants to pay. If Andy wants me to lock it and split off the discussion I will do. I didn't do this because on last two occasions I have done the posts dried up. ROD
  15. And the Eddie Daye I put up on here and again had only one enquiry/buyer. ROD
  16. Really ? Sold mine for £1850 few months back. Nice copy. One interested buyer. You see when this kinda stuff comes up there's always lots of talk of value etc but very few who actually put their hand in their pocket. ROD
  17. Im afraid Swifty that I wouldn't be letting you out on your own. If its over a certain amount you also need to insure next time It happened to me with a packet to Belgium but I sent signed for and insured and got all my money back from PO. ROD
  18. I have looked into this. First of all Nils I am not happy with unfounded accusations being bandied about concerning fellow members. Unless you have proof as to dishonest dealings regarding Soulgirl85 I suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself. It is true that Sebastian in Sweden received an empty packet but the matter was resolved at the time and he received a replacement. He was obviously not happy with the transaction. As the matter was resolved I am prepared to accept Soulgirl85's explanation of a cock-up. As I said earlier members can judge their reliability from their feedback record. As for Jimmy Norman 45 I contacted SirShambling who confirmed he bought it. This was his reply Hi Rod, Thanks for your message. I've bought 2 records from soulgirl85 and both were fine - grading was OK and the 45s arrived reasonably quickly. I'd certainly buy from her again. Finally Nils I'd be grateful if you would contact Nickg on here to ensure the site has your correct details. Thank you ROD [Forum Moderator]
  19. Tell 'em Swifty ! I only collect the very first record pressed in the initial run. You can tell these by the mark in the run-out groove where the cyclonic distributor encounters the manifold peg regulator causing a warp matrix flux signature. I laugh at all you collectors of what, after that first 45 off the press, are merely re-issues to my mind. Im going for a lie-down. ROD
  20. Not on Motown album. On her collection CD. ROD
  21. Simply put you sell records. Deduct any expenses and cost of stock. Say you had £20,000 to declare after that. Take off your tax allowance - is it around £8000 ? £12,000 to pay tax on at 20% which would be £2400. Your income would be £17600 per annum from record sales. Making below your tax allowance you would add total to pensions for total income and you'd be taxed on the two added together. Very rough guide Oh and if your combined income from pensions and sales is over £34370 then you'd enter 40% tax rate but only on monies above that figure ROD
  22. It's a tailor-made done in 70's isn't it ? Similar to Modern instrumentals. Played at Wigan . No Delta # I see. ROD
  23. Just seen this. Im locking it until I have had a word with SirShambling and Sebastian. From what I can see they have 29 positive feedbacks and only 2 negatives, one of those is because they put in a claim from Paypal. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  24. Alex Jones and I went to a club in Chicago playing this stuff. At first the guys on the door thought we were the police !! People's Choice "Do it anyway you wanna " was very popular. Kinda line dancing to it. Did hear "The Drifter" and Carolyn Crawford "Forget about me" but played whilst serving food so no one was dancing. Quite an interesting experience but not a history of local groups on local labels. Mostly 70's R&B hits. I dont know if Bob would agree with that overview as we only went the one time to one club.
