Oooo we jumped the train! Oooo we went by car! Oooo we got the coach! Well we were young and stupid!!!!!!! ( very ) and until there were enough cars or we all bought an old transit between us we used to thumb it.Remember that.

I am after a copy of Velma on Pink Turtle - Can we try love again. Cheers Gang.
  6. Ken as you well know it,s an addiction, and some may say i have argumentative tendencies.
  7. And Fu**ing anything sung by Candi Staton including YHRF is more soulful than MVP.s.This site is becoming less and less to do with soul music and more and more to do with Pop music and Rock and Roll. And i don,t want to know if a casino classics record came out with blue, pink or Friggin yellow vinyl either.
  8. Jayne,if your spending that much a month on records are the dustbin lids going without food and water? And who is doing the cooking ,cleaning, washing and ironing whilst you are spending all your time on ebay?
  9. Word of the day, well yesterday actually.RETROPHOBIC....... Superb Tony
  10. Sean - Too right,my favourite weekender of the year!An absolute across the board music policy sent to a higher level with the afternoon deep soul sets in the back room.Awesome......
  11. Have been on the scene since 1975.Never liked the term Northern Soul because i,m not from up north and it didn,t take me long to realise that after a while it was as much related to pop music and dodgy fashion as anything else.70,s or new releases were always played and accepted everywhere.Be it Wigan,Mecca.Cleethorpes or St ives. Now in my book if its soulful play it.I love a night with across the board music policies.Lifeline is a good current example of this. What does get my goat and to me it seems a copp out when most people on here are rightly championing the unplayed forgotten lesser played sides is this.R&B.Now i,m not talking about raw hard edged soul like Lil Grey, little jewel et all but this late 50,s early 60,s Rock and Roll. What the F****S that all about.Soul i think not!

Jock me old mate, you played Am I Losing You at Yarmouth as well.Do you need some new tunes? Seriously though as good as it is i much prefer Jimmy Delphs version.Got a bit more to it.See you soon as you seem to be avoiding Creative like the plague.
  13. spot on soulful bob, agree with everything you say.just a point about dkof i was at the last one and i thought because cleethorpes was close people were saving pennies? however have since heard that some people did not like the actual new venue which is a shame.on the local do front it is always the same around here.dj at my do and i will dj at yours with no one venturing outside the county.crap!!!!!!! attendances at venues relying on travellers may also be suffering due to the cost of fuel.its no joke filling your motor up twice a week if your paying for it yourselves. anyways don,t crucify soulful bobs opinions as he would never knowingly goad, antagonise or piss you off intentionally.he actually cries himself to sleep some nights.
  14. and it,s good.its just not fast noooorthern soul like lonely, troubled. keep up peeps.look at your credits.you know it makes sense.

i hate talking to mr darcy only to be constantly reminded its his deaf ear. then repeat in other etc etc.i am sure he changes deaf ear weekly! ok mate!
  16. james, fair play, you respond however you like as i did call you an idiot! however, many people on here prefer to look and dont actively participate in the discussions.my point was that by playing any record over and over in any one night is tedious regardless how good said tune is and if you get that point then you will have learnt something.i have no beef with people who are new to the scene.after reading your many many posts i have come to this conclusion though.i have seen people like you come and go.the funk scene got shot of you because of your arrogance and i wonder how long it is before you find a new hobby. yours boring off back to his hole trev
  17. trouble is an idiot!! it wont be anywhere near being played next year. he said at sheffield that it was the best thing he had ever heard (plenty of witnesses there)and should be played 6 times a night.answers on a postcard please as to my response!HE IS TRYING HARD GETTING UPTO 3 AND 4 SPINS OUT OF IT.but my god give me strength.im bored of it already.to be fair to him though he is still learning. cheers trev
  18. dave and soulful bob,im gonna have to break out the vodka before essence.its a conspiricy.its just a sunday lets wind trev up kind of thing.

  21. Lenny, its so enjoyable playing sets featuring records that have not featured too heavily at other venues. As for the Masterplan track, get it,play it and spread the word on a quality, quality 70,s tune. ps - i have fed Cliff and Val for donkeys years.Though not quite 60 eh! Creative Soul - Rare Soul @ SILK Quality rare soul tunes from DJs Arthur Fenn, Nidge Mayfield, Cliff Steele, Val & Trev Saturday 19th April 8 until 1 - SILK, Wellingborough CreativeSoul2008@aol.com
  22. as gavin once said. its a car park get over it.as a person from further down the road who went elsewhwere as well it played so much crap it was more of a trophy venue than anything else.musically places like yate although they had there moments (the lurch) and later stafford and clifton hall pissed all over it! hope im not being annoying again that iv just got in from the pub. trev northampton.

agree with you all,but heres a little curve ball. i love Boys Will Be Boys - Fidels - Maverick and i,v always thought Mr Hutch was singing lead on this? what do you think.i,m at work now but i,m sure his credits are all over it. it sure sounds like him.
  24. as we all know the variation in delivery times from the states is well, how long is a piece of string! i always find Craig Moerers stuff gets through pretty quickly though.and he is further away than most. levine could do a video. The Strange World Of Posting Soul Records.
