  4. I went to the last bunch of nighters, includng 'Farewell Oldies' and the 'End of an era'...and on that night (Sept 19th) a flyer was distributed announcing another night that was also to feature Tommy Hunt (Oct 2nd), which was to be recorded...scan of flyer on AnoraksCorner >>> HERE <<<. I bought a ticket, but the event never happened. Then a few weeks later a fresh batch of six (or was if five?) further nighters were announced in Black Echoes. Yes, as MickeyB has already stated, at this stage folk started to (understandably!) get a little blase about there ever being a true final night! I beleive it was on the third of this new batch of dates (sorry haven't got the advert/dates to hand) that mid-way through the night it was announced over the mic that this particulalr nighter was gonna be the final one...which folk didn't believe (understandably!)...however it was. The final couple of dates then never happened. Think December 5th (?) was the actual final date...I was there.

  6. Found a copy of the silver labelled voc/inst copy on Sylves (from 1975) today whilst our digging. Never had this one and it's been a long time since I had a copy of the 2nd release (b/w 'Lets for a committee'). Are the two releases the same take as the silver one sounds flipping awesome and sooooo 2009 cross-over-Soul-tastic, and I had noted that the blue labelled one has jumped up in value too.
  7. Thanks for the other, squire...already have a Lucky Charms (great tune both sides) Anything else to tickle my fancy?
  8. Ted has a point though!

  10. The Charley Wynn on Jim Gem has an awesome Northern side to it - 'Action time'...harmonies, brass and key changes reminiscent of a cross between 'Jeanette' meets 'Man Oh Man' in places! Would sound great at a nighter for sure! (The flip, 'Its you I love' is a Deep Soul ballad.)
  11. Still available...price reduced to £225 inc. courier service delivery.
  12. Oddly enough last weekend I came across some copies of these two titles...both blue and green variants side by side in the same box of discs...all mint and unplayed. I didn't buy them, mind!

I also have a spare @ £50, Phil...within my sales pages if you take a gander. If you reeeeeeeeally want to impress your mates I MAY part (re-lots of money!) with my Japanese copy....mmm picture cover!
  20. My absolute fave from the guys is, 'Baby What're gonna do' on Highland. Superb understated production...deep rich bassline, chimes in all the right places and a tambourine riding over it all.
  21. I have a gaggle of his 45's and a few LPs all on Japanese presses (surprise, surprise). I'll check tomorrow... after a day of digging for vinyl with Mr.Hennigan.

To complete the picture he was also included on an original Japanese Stateside LP compilation which has one side devoted to James Brown, whilst the flip is all Shout label artists.

Can't help with the wants Keith, but if you'r researchng the chap thought you'd be interested to learn that his classic, 'Karate Boogaloo' was released on a Japanese Stateside 7" back in April '68. Sadly the pic cover doesn't feature him, but it does show the dance steps of how to Boogaloo!
  24. Love this one. Great blue-eyed Northern...fab chime breaks...very Embers-esque. Recommended...especially played at -3.
  25. There is a mint minus copy (bottom one of the pictures above) on AnoraksCorner.com for £45. It has been sat quietly within the sales pages for a couple of months now! >>> PRESS HERE <<<
