Birth Of A Playboy, How Many Versions ?
Ahem...I have a M- copy of the Crown Four on Lee John for sale on my site at what some may consider a bargain price of £100.

I Rate This As One Of The Rarest 45's I've Ever Had
I may have mentioned it before (or was it on RareSoulForum.com?), that there is also an original acetate of the Chapter 5's backing track of OIAM, but with Kenny Bernard singing the song! The link is that they had the same manager (or was it producer - been a while since I checked!) at the time. A right thumping version it makes too, but still not as good as MaxineB, naturally!

Cover Up "cornered"
Yep, I heard Alexis Korner play it too...was a Sunday night radio show, and I was sat in the bath...probably still recovering from the nighter on Saturday night. I went into town the next day and ordered a copy of the LP, which duly arrived the following week.

Value Please
Fab tune. Note the writers on the flipside...yes it is Don & Juan of Mala/Big Top fame. Could the Ghetto Boys actually be Don & Juan?! Discuss

Pinnacle Records
I spent 20 years in the music trade working full-time for various labels/distributors...loved every minute of it. It saddens me greatly to think back to all the great indie stores I had the pleasure to sell to once upon a time...now all gone. I'm now genuinely shocked further to learn of the demise of Pinnacle/Windsong. Sad days for the UK music industry. (Numero CDs are in all the specialist stores over her in Tokyo...in quantity...and they seem to sell through. More power to them, but 10,000 units sounds too high to me, even as a sell-in figure!)

Harold Melvin
You would have been welcome to the copy I have had for sale on my site for a while now...mind you I have £50 on it!
-

David Coleman - Drown My Heart (barry)
All the yellow stockers and WD's I've ever had have been on styrene. Are there any original vinyl copies? I assume the bootleg is vinyl?

Frank Beverly On Gamble
For the sake of the complete picture, the Gamble LP take is stereo with strings...now what about the Greek 45?!
-
After Some Info On This Tune
Yes, 100%...yellow label with black plain typical West Coast looking font. Not thaaaaaaaat hard to find,...or it never used to be back in the day!

Price Please - Tempests
Evening chaps! As a big fan of this LP I've had a few go through my hands over the years! My current copy is a keeper though,as the sleeve is just so clean...no fading, tears, stickers or wear...and it also happens to be a Mono WD (MGS prefix vinyl/sleeve), which sounds great! If y'all didn't already know, a good friend of mine released this LP on CD last year on the Poker label...superb sound quality...includes the non-LP Smash 45's as well. Not a bad sleevenote either -ps No Japanese issue as far as I'm aware!
-
Little Charles & The Sidewinders - Talkin About You Babe - Decca Issue
Awesome powerhouse Northern! All nighter magic!

The New Sounds Lp
...and not too easy to find either...even over here!

Rare Lp Sale
If it was the Marge Dodson, I have a spare...amongst other nice LPs: >>> LOOK HERE <<<

The Travelers- My Baby Doesn't Love Me Anymore - Glad Hamp
I reckon you were closer with your first estimate, Bob. It had a flutter of attention pre-eBay days, but failed to take off outside of the tape-swappers circuit. Used to be fairly easy to pick up out of the small-print in Discoveries/Goldmine magazines. A tough messy to appeal to the majority...imo.

BINGO! Nice one...I can hold my head up high once again! What would we do without you, Dave?!

Tonight's Manship Auction Results - 29 Oct
Yep, Guy was over here recently and I took him along to a collector's night...we had a right laugh with the highlights being as follows...I'll never forget him playing 'Skiing in the snow' and punching the air in the excitement of it all, only to be soon topped by me running over to show him my latest purchase - a Japanese copy of the Chosen Few on Roulette - yep, 'Footsee', complete with pic sleeve, mind! Flynny -ps Still have a Greg Perry spare!

Moments
The backing tracks are identical...the vocal takes are different...and the backing singer's lines vary (slightly) at certain points too...especially near the end. I prefer the version on the flip to 'Hey boy'...even though that's the second release!

Tonight's Manship Auction Results - 29 Oct
...and how much for a Japanese 7" copy of this one, and indeed for CLWY as well?!
