  2. well mate it was bound to happen and who knows what it will go for, in this day and age even the cheapest records seem to go for daft price,s, then that sets the general asking price for future ones listed anyway got mine as well top sound destined for big things
  3. the old palias kept on going right up till around 2002 , over the years they had nighters in the mid 80's as well they somewhat changed the decor around this time the d.j box was moved to the right side of the floor the stage was demolished and replaced by a bar as was the clockroom the floor was reduced and put on two levels and as for the bali hi well that was totally unrecognisable the place holds great memories for me as i d.jd there in the late 70's and 80's te last time i went to my home town the old place was boarded up and the old globe on the roof was no more a very sad sight to see steve p
  4. Mick .h has the prophets , cairos , bill dennis , and a few others but i doubt if he would part with them , there was a cairos on ebay last week but the guy wanted stupid money for it. as for the counts, & cavaliers , good luck manship had cavaliers on his list earlier this year not sure if it sold
  5. i'll give you a clue i know someone who worked at a record pressing plant in the east midlands he saw the mastercopies to these c.d's being done 5 years ago
  6. [ the Northern Scene only really came into question when Speedlimit started this thread (tell me he wasn't being paid off Hey hey speedlimit has'nt been payed off LOL not even got a copy yet , james will tell you im not like the rest of the scene's dinosaur's . just thought i'd start the thread cause like so many other records that have been over looked in the past i thought this deserves a mention as in the right d.j's hands this could potentionally become a big record im all for new discoveries be they 60's 70's and even resent releases if they fit the bill ,this scene get's slated weekin week out on here and other sites for venues playing the same old .well hopefully this may help change that trend. if james hadn't have played it now it would have been someone else eventually quality rises to the top . if this hadn't have been a new release every top d.j in the country would have wanted one .this scene as always had it's controvertial d.j's levine, soulsam . keb now james they push the boundries which can't bad otherwise we be stuck with the same old looking forward to gettin my copy will def be playing it out
  7. hi mark going by the bass guitar and horns sounds like a detroit cut to me will try find out for you know a couple of guy's who may be able to identify it
  8. great record i was the owner of the fist known copy of this back in 79 i payed an incredible £15.00 for it as a unknown covered it as the precisions played it at the brit club notts for several years then sold it to keb darge for £200 and the rests history never worth $15,000 though this guy must be mad £
  9. hope the instrumentals on the flip massive stafford sound for keb but originally a spin for john vincent in the 70's .last time i saw the original acetate of this was in 87 kebbhad sold it to a lad from bedford called jason dont know of it's where abouts now though
  10. I know what your going to say here we go again , well imagine this if the casino was still open and there wasn't 50 + venues per weekend on would the top 60's , 7o's and crossover discoveries of today as played by butch , mr dyson ,mr .h, kitch etc be bigger records if they had been played by mr searling , mr roberts , mr winstanley etc . would they have been more widely accepted because they were played at the casino ? let's keep this sensible no slagging of or backstabbing just honest opinions
  11. great record had this about 20 years if there both the same number theres a chance that it may be a label misprint as all the copies iv'e seen are by little jewel .perhaps mr manship could shed more light on this one for you .
  12. you never know if the record does become big over here thenone of the northern promoter's might just have the bottle to get the band over here at one of the big events
  13. hey guy's don't it make a change to have such intrest in what could potentionally be the years' biggest record no back stabbing,no slagging off just great intrest and good comments ,what this site should be about
  14. steve can be found at www/myspace.com/kingsgoforth
  15. as far as im aware it's never been booted on cuppy been on the scene 34 years only releases i know of are destiny and grapevine which if i remember right was withdrawn due to legal reasons if there's no photo wouldn't touch it
  16. [ I'd be very surprised if it's not the most requested record on the northern scene this time next year. But hey, let's be honest, it may not be the first time that the northern soul scene ignores things for weird or perverse reasons, like, shock horror, it's a new recording. Not that it matters, where ever it gets played it will rock the dance. Northern scene, London trendy club or at a barn dance.
  17. well really glad i started this the response has been great good and not so good , like someone said though these guy's are just like the artists from the 60's and 70's . they probably can't afford to press more than 500 copies , just like eddie parker, parliments , etc in their day . and why there's a phobia among some that it's a new release well that's why the scene is in a state narrow mindedness .as long as krl or mr levine aint involved that's what counts the real mccoy from the states. yes it is remenisent of delegetes of soul ,i thought that on first listen , just because it wasn't recorded in the golden era dosent mean it isn't worthy of a spin. i for one will be spinning it thesec guy,s deserve credit were credit,s due
  18. hi chalky have to agree with both of you can see your point it is a brave statement but also agree with james the record as everything just like all the records you mentioned and for a record of this quality to be produced in this day and age is very rare . most productions now days are dull ,mundain and usually lacking imagination , poor lyrics and repetative backing tracks. kings go forth is a breath of fresh air .i believe that in 2-3 years this will go for big money
  19. james totally agree with you on this one 6 months time this will be the biggest sound in the country sound clip sounds awesome on my 2k sound system at home
  20. great midtempo item used to play this in the mid 80's at rock city soul nights and the notts palias niters in the 80's
  21. have to agree both side's are just right for today's scene
  22. james keep me posted will have two copies for def . like you say possibly one of the best records made personally think this will be an absoulute monster in a couple of months time
