No idea mate, they surfaced in the summer of 77 if I remember right. All the usual suspects active then. What intrigues me is where the instrumental came from in the first place - It does sound like an unfinished less polished take compared to the backing of the vocal

Not sure how else I would describe it whilst staying within site rules about bad language 😆
  3. Do you know where your old copy ended up ? Has it been on the market since ?....Not asking you to breach a confidence of course, just interested if its still in this country really or has it gone to Japan or back to the states
  4. Fast & reliable in my experience too

There must be copies of the miss press with the the TTLFL instrumental on even if I'm wrong about seeing one for sale in the summer. Looking at it logically there must have been at least one more than the one JM sold to Sam for them to cut the Chi Sounds boot off of as I doubt they would have had the master tape (?). Also, how would us collectors have known to buy the penthouse issue only to be disappointed in the first place ?...I bought my copy in the record bar at Wigan in the mid 70s only to get home to find I'd bought a crock of s***, so it must be presumed it was common knowledge then that there was an instrumental on Penthouse or I wouldn't have bought it in the first place - Everyone 'in the know' at the time seemed surprised it had the wrong instrumental on when I told them. When the 50 turn up pencil me in for one, but I'll insist on playing it first before parting with my hard earned again !😉

Sure I saw one for sale last summer somewhere with the seller claiming it was the TTLFL instrumental but can't remember who/where. Might have even be ebay. Anyway, I'm sure there's more than one out there

Shocking. Awful. I gave mine away
  8. Around the same time as Billy Hambric & Vicky Baines if I remember right
  9. Probably Benjamin is the one that I've enjoyed the most. Not sure about top 50 of all time though

RIP Dave. I remember him being one of the older heads on the coaches from Bedford in the 70s. Quite a character.
  11. Just looking at their other releases on Love-Lite. Love So Strong is on a pinkish label, so perhaps the lighter ones are legit.
  12. Yes, you are probably right. I've never seen the lighter copy myself. Stanley Woodruff was a strange choice for Grapevine IMO as it had already probably reached its full potential sales wise from the 2nd run of imports
  13. Don't remember any talk of boots at the time in 77. As said, it was put out on Grapevine quite quickly. Have you ever seen the lighter label ? Has anyone on here got a scan so we can compare ?
  14. Guessing here too mate ! The prices are all over the place these days wherever you look.
  15. Could that be because of how the seller lists it ? Their information gathering tool might not pick it up if its got "Wigan Monster !!!" (or the like) as a pre-fix ?
  16. Exactly the same as my old copy bought back in the day. Like other posters I never heard of it being booted at all....Wouldn't mind buying if your selling.

How can they charge £8 for collecting nothing if you paid up front? That can't be right, if it was 'honest bob's car sales' he'd be outed on Watchdog & done for fraud !
  18. Can't ever remember anyone playing Herman's Hermits version( thank god) but The Foundations version was well known in my youth club days
  19. I remember an instrumental of Glad All over being played in Mr Ms. Don't think it was that one though...Mind you it was pretty dire as well
  20. Good point, but its not very good pop music though

Thanks Andy - You've put me out of my misery after 41 years !
  22. Good point. Follow it up with Summer in The Parks or The Gig

I found an Anderson Brothers LP test press in Chicago in 1980. Just Anderson Bros DJM (and some numbers) in biro on the plain white label. One of the tracks was OK(ish) I gave it to Tony Warot who played that track at The Fleet a few times. It didnt have ICSHLY on it. The thing that puzzled me was why a DJM test press was in a junk shop in Chicago........Anyway, point of the post - Is it possible ICSHLY came out on DJM as a 45 eslewhere in the world & we just havent found one yet ?
