I hope all you youngsters on here are taking all this in , hindsight is everything but advice & knowledge is king . I sold up 93ish when we purchased a new home , 300 years old & needed rewiring, a Kitchen extension & was working in the south of France , so 14 years later the house was finished, back working in the UK , & decided to go down the cd path which I still have 3k + but nothing beats vinyl ,,,, & now buying vinyl again , probably only 10 that I owned before big tunes but loads of new to me & comtempory new releases , do I wish I'd kept my collection back in 93ish , Yes , should have borrowed the money needed at the time but hindsight again . What Tim has written above should go down in Northern Soul folklore , as my daughter said when they've gone they're gone , You'll never get them back . My wife as asked me to value my current collection, by writing the current value inside the cardboard sleeve in pencil , as & when I play them when I'm in the Man cave, she's already valued the CDs , quite surprising what some go for . Neither of my children are interested in the vinyl , but I do believe they will be when I'm gone if only for the money . So this time I'm keeping them & the CDs . Good luck Mick , It's your choice whichever way you choose .

My 1st pair boots 85p each bought from Sinfonia Records in Blackpool ,1973 ish David & the Giants , Ten Miles High , & Dusty Springfield, What's It Gonna Be ,O.O.T.P. white label . But did buy any originals from there as well Sandy used to split soul packs from John Anderson amongst the regulars . Got back home one evening from school & could here Ten Miles High , blasting out on the family radiogram , which was my Dad's really , & my Sister aged about 10 was leaping up & down loving it , I went off on one taking it off the player asked what she was doing , she said she thought it was the Osmonds because it was on the Crazy Horse label , can laugh about it now .

I'm fully aware that Bootlegging was rife prior to SS , & some lookalikes , O.O.T.P. white labels & coloured ,Soul Sounds Jeff King , The Detroit labels Inferno & Ric Tic , but where they done in the same quantities ?

Hi Kev , Does SS from what you've heard during the interview, show any remorse in the damage his bootlegging , wether cover versions or original recordings did in popularising the Northern Soul scene ? And almost turning it into pop scene , which it almost became and the reason a lot of die hards looked for other venues than Wigan. Did any of the artists like Herb Ward , for instance make any money ( I doubt it ) I know it's an awful long time ago but 3 people gave up on the multitude of records , that where still at the time to be discovered, SS , IL, & RW , & believing for whatever reason (profit probably) that was the way forward . To attempt to make Northern Soul records and deceive the punters into believing they where genuine discoveries , thank the Lord AI wasn't around then .

I can remember a pre match interview with the late great Franz Beckenbauer I'm sure it was during a world cup , maybe late 80s early 90s he was asked " do you think we'll see the best football in the world here today " & his response was " no because a lot of the countrys can't be sure of having all their best players for one reason or another, but if it was a World Club competition then we definitely would " . I found this locally in a Kidderminster charity shop for £1. Curiosity got the better of me , & after getting it home and removing the obviously false label on the B- side found it was the blue labelled SP reissue , with original label deliberately removed but matrix details gave it away . The Label was an original release Jamo Thomas , Bahama Mama , Part 1 on Sound Stage 1967 . With the Artist & song title probably Tipexed out & filled in with Letra set ? Would this have done for home use or to play out & deceive the soul police ? Have also found a few others so it's not a one off , and no it wasn't me .

Unfortunately not shown on the later news bulletin , evening programme from 13.37 mins , but still worthy of a view , in fact watching it again now on the iPlayer, Colin gets a section after the rave section of the feature , mentioning all the venues etc , & the Blue Plaques all over the City .
