Mint Volt Stuff
Of all of the Stax releases I've got, from the early 60's until the Fantasy ownership. Its the Volt 4000 series, I hold closest to my heart.

Mint Volt Stuff
Is it just me or are issues of the leased-in stuff genuinely harder to get hold of (not necessarily more expensive) than the In-house developed volt issues (if you know what I mean..) as they probably sold bugger all or were not pressed in the quantity as the others. ie Paul Thompson, Charlene & The SS, Roz Ryan, Collette Kelly to name a few.

Johnny Dynamite On Minaret - How Much?
And I remember that one very well, didnt use a snipe and other things came into my mind so missed the end.

Wilson Pickett - (Artist Of The Week)
Haven't met a poor contractor working in finance yet. Nope, for some reason every time I go to buy it something else always seem into my sights and takes priority. I'm off to Florida this summer, so may buy it & get it sent to where we're staying and save on the international postage.

Wilson Pickett - (Artist Of The Week)
Yes and no. There's a few alternate takes on the last CD but I'll Be There is a peach of an unreleased track. I haven't got the set in front of me, but from memory its from about 73 and recorded at Fame or Muscle Shoals. 7 CD's of his best work, an essential purchase at any cost. Its in a nice 7" sized box and loads of notes and photos

Wilson Pickett - (Artist Of The Week)
It was a stroke of genus, when Wexler decided to send him to Stax, for me that was when a star was born.

Playlists, Or The Lack Of Them
When in chin stroking anorak wearer mode, I really like them. As people have said, it can get you searching for new stuff and looking back into your collection. It's a good way of showcasing your set to people who were unable to attend the venue you played. It might even get you some groupies. I'd rather have these posts/threads than ones like what was the best bacon sandwich you had on your way home from Wigan.

Artists We Know Nothing About
More so for Tony Borders than Al Johnson, with all the interest in their recordings by (obsessional) deep soul collectors, the Charly LP's, The SouthernSoul Message Board and the more recent Pete Nickol's Quin Ivy articles on John Ridley's web site. You would have though that a bit more information about these artists would have emerged. If were in the Quinvy/South Camp vain June Edwards is another one

Orange And White Calla Issues
There were two layouts of the orange ones. One has the date at the bottom and production credits on the RHS. The other one has the date on the RHS with the production credits at the bottom.

Artists We Know Nothing About
Does anyone know anything about Joe Graves? His 4 singles all have their own charm, with his Parkway output getting some plays. His Rack single was picked up by RCA, wouldn't they have created some promo bumph?

New Cd Swap - Whatever Floats Your Boat
11 signed up so far. This is a good opportunity to show other people why you should or shouldn't be on the same bill as Butch.

Tams - Yellow Or Red Label?
The red ones prettier. I thought they were slightly different mixes, one being the same as the LP, but dont know which?

Chuck Overton - Is It Possible / I'm So Thankful
Moonville was another one of Choker Campbells many labels. Didnt know it would command that price though, thought all the Moonville releases were cheap. The Soul Merchants - Tender-Loving-Care & Ted Robinson - A Thing Called Love were also released on Moonville, don't know if anything else was release in that label

Is There Any Sexy Soul Out There ?
Surely you don't want 45's, you'd have to keep stopping to change the record every 3 1/2 minutes, or doesnt that matter

New Cd Swap - Whatever Floats Your Boat
Sean, I'm very well, work's been manic with all these EuroZone troubles. I was thinking upto 6 weeks, say by the end of July. Hopefully enough time to receive them all and burn them to the Ipod for listening on the beach in the school holidays. It generally takes me a while to pick the tunes, let alone burning them. So I'm using me as the benchmark, which I'm unsure if that's a good or bad thing. Go-on give it a go, you know you'll like it.......

New Cd Swap - Whatever Floats Your Boat
I know that the price of postage's gone up, but I thought it was time to see if there's any interest in another CD Swap. The Sweet & Deep theme has been running for a few years, so I thought a theme of Whatever Floats Your Boat would be nice and wide to attract people with different preferences who would be open to maybe listening to something different to what they normally listen to. If you're interested, please send me a pm with your real name (not just your SS name) and postal address. I'll keep it open for a week, but I'd like to limit to a maximum of 25 people (if we get to that number), so it doesn't become too unwieldy. Please, only send me your details if you can definitely provide a CD.

Brilliant Record No Bids (David Lenyard)
I'm quite surprised it didn't sell too. IMO its the best release by him even though its not the most expensive record he's been involved in.

News: Blues or Soul?
I don't think you can categorize these artists as either, and there isn't really a need to do so. Both have tracks on the same LP (especially their later Malaco stuff) that I would say were outright blues and others that were outright soul tracks. The term BlueSoul has been used for a long time to describe the mixing of the two genres. Just enjoy their music for what it is, without any need for pigeon holes.

Lou Pride Has Gone
Sorry Mike, no offense was meant.
