These two have always been firm favourites in my house...

Record Mountain Growing By The Day
Everyone is in agreement, that certain big ticket items will always be sought after and keep their price. What frustrates me is the high price of more common/less demand stuff. If you look at the major dealers web sites these tunes are on there for long periods of time, so it leads me to think that either they have boxes of them, everybody has a copy or they must be over priced? Yes, dealers initially set the price, but if they don't sell, surely that means that the market (buyers) feels that it is too expensive or not wanted, so who's right and who's wrong? Dealers must be earning income by other means as holding stock costs money (warehouse and funding costs). Its the same with every market place, if something is too expensive the price drops until a buyer is found, this doesn't seem to happen for the major dealers. Everything goes through cycles and record prices should be no different. I havent got any of the price guides, but has any record in them gone down (edition to edition)?

Sellers How To Avoid Paypal Fees
I think there is a downside to this. If the purchased item is faulty and you want a refund but the seller refuses, I don't think you can make a claim, as the payment was originally a gift.

Manships Prices
But why didn't it crash after my last bid was accepted...

Manships Prices
I was in a bit of a bidding battle on Lee Moses at 6pm, the site went down on me as I was bidding. That was at £115, so I assume that my competition won . I wasn't my machine as I pm'd John on here as his site went down and I'm awaiting a reply.

Has There Ever Been A Worse Cover Of A Soul Record
I think Michael Bolton's cover of the Dock Of The Bay is absolutely horrendous - Otis must have turned in his grave when this one came out...

May 09 Cd Swap. ......full Up.......full Up.......full Up
I think it's a real shame, the concept of the CD swap is fantastic, better than tape swaps in the 80's. Being a participant of these swaps has given me an insight into tunes that I would have otherwise passed by. It's sad, as support dwindles due to people not playing ball potentially could mean the SS CD may no longer exist. I suppose on the other side, they've started up on EMS.

What's The Most You'd Pay For That Long Time Elusive Want?
I'm not normally that geeky on calalogue numbers, well just a bit. I was burning some tunes to mp3 on Wednesday and the Honey Cone was one of them.

What's The Most You'd Pay For That Long Time Elusive Want?
Steve, Is this a mis-pressing? 7208 is also the Honey Cone - Don't Send Me An Invitation.

This Will Come As A Big Shock For Some Of You
My listing doesn't go back 120 days as the last entry on mine was 2nd June. I think it really only takes the last 90 days as it excludes stuff I bought in May which is within 120 days of today. 22p shy of £500 for me and thats just ebay.

Just What Is Crossover
As people have said, it was originally perceived as tunes from the late 60's early 70's which didn't fit into either the then "Northern" or "Modern" sound. But if you look at the things people have posted into the Crossover thread in Refosoul, they are more akin to the old "Modern" soul, so maybe its definition should be expanded/changed. X-over, to me, now seems a better tag for old "Modern", rather than calling a tune recorded 35 years ago "Modern", It just doesn't seem right and we all know the trouble caused when people ask for a definition of "Modern".

Four Dynamics - That's What Girls Are Made For / Things That A Lady Ain't Supposed To Do - Peachtree
I knew it was pricy and was thinking around Gareth's value, but that idea seems to have been quashed by 2 1/2 times.....

Anyone have have a ballpark value for this one please?

The Crow On Manships Auction
Popped through the letter box yesterday morning - It's quite brittle so I assume its styrene. I thought it was very good value, considering how rare issues are. The better side is "Something....", so for many there isn't really much value paying a premium for the issue - just for sad issue buffs like me. But it does look lovely........ John

Archie Bell Philly Int?
It was the title of their 1976 LP which also has "Don't Let Love Get You Down" on it. If I remember rightly the 12" was released on the back of the popularity of Don't Let Love Get You Down, which was very popular in the late 80's, especially in London. I don't really remember "Where Wiil You Go...." baing played out, maybe a venues I didn't attend. There was a stream of reissues at the time leveraging off of stuff played on the Rare Groove scene.
