The counterfeit of Eddie Foster on blue IN is still on UK ebay for £1500! The seller is not really bothered. He say's it is an original but he doesn't really know. Their attitude is if someone wants to buy it, that's ok!

Big records were dropped from playlists at all-nighters if they were pressed or released and became readily available. Do not sell bootlegs/pressings and pretend they are originals! It was frowned upon to dance with a pint of beer/bottle etc in your hand on the Northern Soul dancefloor. ( Kinda thing people do at wedding receptions and divvy pub dancefloors) It was frowned upon to start doing Strictly/ballroom type dancing, with your partner at a Northern Soul event! Don't try and sell baking powder and other duff things at all-nighters. Hope these suggestions are some good and what you're looking for!

This would be good enough for any allnighter dancefloor! This is my favorite version. It was also covered with a slower cut by the Temptations and another great dancer version by the Contours. Also the flip Malinda is a great crossover soul type sound💫

When I think back to the 1970's I remember a lot of people had Soul badges sewn on jackets, t shirts, trousers, scarfs and bags! They even stuck them onto record boxes😊. Of course there were people who didn't go in for that sort of thing as well😇.

Be patient! It's got a slow start but once it kicks in it's a great powerhouse of a record. It did get played in the early 90's at various nighters. Not to be confused with there other record with a very similar title! No Cure For The Blues -The Lamp Sisters - Duke💫

Maybe this one would fit? I have had it my collection for many years. I was in the small room at Lowton a few years back and my mate said "this sounds very good, it must be another version of the Bobby Patterson record". It was playing loud and we had to go a find out what this new version was? Yes it was the Bobby Patterson record we already had, but sounded so good after not playing it for years, and to hear it playing loud!!

The Pier advert must have been one of the last allnighters there, as the authorities got it closed early 1976. That's why they moved to the Winter Gardens. But the authorities got that stoped by November 1976. East Coast connection are advertising alldayers as the allnighters could not get a licence. The Winter Gardens "Soul Time" advert and "After Dark" I remember from the early 1980's. Things had relaxed. It seemed a different era in the Northern Soul world by then. But my point is people keep saying this and that about Cleethorpes, but it's like saying they used to play Brooks and Jerry "I Got What It Takes" at Manchester also they used to play "Feminine Ingenuity" by Ruby at Manchester!! Both true but different venues in totally different times!

Cleethorpes is a town in Lincolnshire. It is not a venue! There's so many times people say Cleethorpes this and that, but they are all talking about different venues at different era's of Northern Soul history. It would be a lot more helpful for people to name the venues and approx dates, and not just the name of the town. The allnighter in the 1970's was two different venues. The Pier and the Winter Gardens. Feb 1975 till Nov 1976. After that it was alldayers etc till the 1980's. Also if I remember correctly the allnighters went on to be fortnightly, not weekly.

Records I think of as pure Wigan Casino all-nighter tracks. The same things went on at The Twisted Wheel, The Torch and all the other allnighters! They didn't just take flasks of tea and sandwiches to keep going allnight!😉

I've been to hundreds of Northern Soul events, but when I was in the Casino on a good night, I felt I was at the very epicentre, the central hive of Northern Soul! An all-nighter every single weekend, two allnighters some weekends and MrM's making a lot of those allnighters double room all-nighters in the same building. This for nearly 8 years solid! Yes it had some up's and downs but on the whole it was great!

I think one of the reasons dj's tend to play the popular records is because most people will know them and will dance. But I know it can be boring listening to a full hour of very predictable expensive records. The dance floor had always kept the Northern Soul scene on the right track. But when dj's don't have to play to the floor they wander off down lanes and alley ways of music, that only they know! Then it becomes boring for the average punter. When there used to be weekly venues playing the same records to the same people it was easier to break new sounds regularly. But things are so fragmented now with what people know, and how often they go out, it's not surprising the dj's can't promote the lesser known goodies! Many moons ago when I used to dj, I would try and play two out of three that most people would know then the third something lesser known I wanted to push forward! This kept things entertaining to the crowd, but also got new records accepted. A compromise, but it seemed to work for the dancers and also for the collector/listeners.

Mickie Champion was a monster record at Wigan Casino allnighters, as well as the other places in 76!

Those were the days when all-nighter meant all-nighter! 8.30pm Sat night til 8.30am Sunday morning!💥 Some of the so called all-nighters these days are finished by 4.00 in the morning! Some great memories mentioned in these posts👍 I especially like to hear about which records were played. I couldn't go back then, as my paper round wouldn't have covered the expenses😊.
