  1. I bought a Technics SU-VX 500. This has the all important mono/stereo button. 1960's records and those early stereo recordings sound better with the mono button on. Someone on here will say it's not true mono, but it works! Why they don't fit Mono/Stereo buttons to ANY new amps is very frustrating! It would not take a lot to do it!
  2. "I Remember The Feeling" side is Ex condition with a small chip out of the centre hole. This does not affect the record in any way. The record plays great. Recorded delivery included. SOLD. Original first USA issue of this wonderful Northern Soul classic! It doesn't get much better than this !
  3. Great Ex+ condition. Nice vinyl original not the brittle styrene variation. Plays great. £30 plus postage. It has a small drill hole in label. Slow intro then a great dancer. Great vocals and heading for superstar fame💫
  4. Really, as you say, you're lucky not to know a lot of the great records as you can get the pleasure of hearing them for the first time! Listening to the Hy-Tones can only make you bigger and better!😉 This is a great positive post👍 So much better than the negative comments about records some people want to make! Do you buy records? Have you got a record player? When I hear something I really like I want it on the original vinyl! I feel it's the only way to do it justice.
  5. C/U are necessary because if just one more DJ can get a copy it means it isn't an exclusive anymore. That means the original dj has a slightly less desirable record to play. Plus it could also be bootlegged by the new finder!
  6. I really liked John Vincent's dj sets. Always interesting. Big sounds, mixed with new unknown to me records at that time. He played things no one else was playing.
  7. Record in Ex condition. This great Northern Soul classic looks and plays great. £225. Special delivery postage included.
  8. I observed right from my start with Northern Soul that some people can really dance with natural rhythm and flair and some people can try for years and never quite get it! If any person is enjoying themselves without being silly, it's good that they get onto the dancefloor and have a good time.
  9. I lived that lifestyle for a long time but found it slightly unhealthy in the long term, so don't do that anymore. I had great times and let's face it without amphetamine there never would have been an all-night Northern Soul scene. From The Twisted Wheel, Torch, Wigan Casino, Stafford and all the other countless nighters😳 That wouldn't of happened. As a comparison, everyone knows there used to be pubs and clubs in every town and village in the UK. They would be rammed full every weekend, but how many would there have been without alcohol! I think there might have been a soul night scene in the UK, like beach music in USA but no special dancing style or fashion in clothes or even a strong fraternity. No fanatical fever to hear and obtain the latest monster/ popular sounds. Also people on the Northern scene who never took any stimulants have benefitted and had a great time because of it!
  10. I sold a lot of tapes in batches on here in the sales section. There was a lot of great records recorded on them. I am sure people on here will have draws full of tapes that they would maybe let go! Put a request in the wants section.
  11. Record in Ex condition. This classic looks and plays great. When held up to the light some light scuffs can been seen on the vinyl. £225. Special delivery postage included.
  12. "I Dream Of You"/ Instrumental. Clara Hardy - Tuna. Top Near/Mint condition on this rare original. Fabulous, quality track from Detroit. £675. Postage included. I'm looking Out For Me" / "I'll Come Running Back To You" The C.O.D.'S on Kellmac original. Ex condition and plays great, but the vinyl does have some small pressing bubbles from manufacture. Rarer label design. £30 plus £2.70 postage to UK address. "Both Ends Against The Middle" - Jackie Moore - Atlantic original in near mint condition. £25 plus £2.70 postage. "What Would I Do" - The Superiors - Verve original in Ex+/M- condition on this all-time classic. £65 plus £4.20 signed for delivery. "Two Loves Have I" - Big Joe Turner - Blues Time original in near mint condition. Great Northern /Crossover record that was a very popular dj play in the 1990's. £65 plus £4.20 signed for delivery.
  13. I never and still don't like them. When I have been at venue that have dance competitions it has been very boring standing about waiting for them to finish, before we can all get back to enjoying ourselves! I never watch anything that has a panel of judges! It's all like watching a soap!
  14. All-Time classic in Excellent condition. USA original SOLD
  15. Kent and Kent Select. Only they haven't released anything for a while. I think they are going off track a little lately with there choice of records. Too many left field, slow tunes recently!
  16. All look virtually unplayed, but some do have occasional light sleeve scuffs. Easily graded at Ex. £12 for them all plus £2.70 postage. Paypal f&f or bank transfer.
  17. I bought some Tamla paper repro sleeves. They were almost a brown colour instead of being orange. Where can I buy the bright orange sleeves like the ones on the left of my picture?
  18. What a great track! Motown 45 original. Record is VG+ condition. £12 plus postage. Has a few light scratches, but nothing to spoil the enjoyment in playing it. It plays great. See photo for label condition. Nice vinyl plastic, not brittle styrene.
  19. The way I see it is that if a record was made to be sent out to record shops for the normal public to buy, and maybe with a view to getting in the charts, it is a proper release in that country. If a record was pressed up to cater the needs of a specialist market like the Northern Soul scene or whatever scene's mail order market, and never meant to be available to the general public of that country, then it isn't a proper release in that country at all, but a custom pressing for a limited market. So for example "I'll Do Anything"- Doris Troy on UK Cameo Parkway, Toast or Mojo were all proper UK releases available for the general public to buy at there local record shop. But a reproduction pressed up just for a specialist mail order market or just for specialist dealers to sell, isn't a proper release! That's they way I see it, and the same goes for USA releases. It's not all cut and dried with a subject like this, but maybe a rough outline!
  20. "Both Ends Against The Middle" - Jackie Moore - Atlantic USA original in M- condition. £30. Nice vinyl. "S.O.S (All We Need Is Love)" - Todays People - Gamma original. £15 Ex. Couple of light sleeve scuffs, plays great. Monster sound back in the 70's. "You Can Come Right Back To Me"- David Ruffin - Motown original. Condition is VG++ plays well. £12 "What Happened To The Songs" - Brimstone Ingram - Red Grapevine. £20. Ex+/near mint. Do you need this to complete your Grapevine collection? "What Took You So Long" - Stanley Woodruff - Juldane. Ex £10. Not sure if this is an original, but it plays well. It was a popular sound at the Casino in 76/77, before it came out on Grapevine. Postage £3.45 recorded delivery. Paypal f&f or bank transfer. All returnable if not happy. Buyer pays return post.
  21. We travelled to a Friday allnighter at Brierley Hill near Dudley about 1978. We went because Soul Sam was djing. I remember, it seemed Soul Sam and us were the only lighter whiter complexion people in the venue! I think most people were only there because it was an allnighter and not for the music! Looked like they would have been happier with Reggae music type event. I was with my girlfriend so was ok, but my mates kept getting bumped into accidently on purpose! An uncomfortable, bad atmosphere night! It was much better at Wigan the next night and Soul Sam was on again!
  22. Wait until it's a totally cashless society! The banking system/gov will know where all your money came from, exactly how much money you should only have in your possession, and where you spend it🤔.
  23. We might have to go back to mailing paper lists😊
  24. Original first issue 45. Condition is an immaculate mint- £750 plus £10 special delivery. Paypal f&f or bank transfer.
  25. I was addressing the point that venues are boring and playing the same records. People keep saying we should be playing all these other records, but what are these other great records that nobody knows yet? I am all for playing different records but most of these different records are known and a lot have been played from time to time so they are going to be boring to somebody! Boxes have been sifted and both sides of records played for many decades, the chances of finding great new records that nobody knows are getting slim! As I said I am all for playing different records at venues, but we can't expect the 1970's/80's level of finds and discoveries!
