  1. The boots we know about are the one's that aren't perfect. There may have be some records that were repressed by the original pressing plants. Monarch is a great example. Lucky for us, they usually did not use the original triangle matrix number or we would not be able to tell some originals from the pressings/boots. Modern represses are obvious, because as mentioned, the manufacturing process has changed. It's a minefield. Sometimes I think I am on safe ground, then it blows up when new info comes to light!
  2. I was surprised to hear it! Apart from it's popularity on the Northern scene, or whatever it wants to be called these days, it's a very obscure record and not one I would expect to hear on a main stream programme!
  3. Certain people with very large expensive collections don't want anyone to know where they live😉 I have known several collectors who get all their records sent to their work address. Although I must admit, it would be interesting to know if he own's all those records!

For me, buying from the States has just about stopped. Ebay are pricing themselves off the market. The terrible global shipping costs etc . I used to buy regularly from USA, now it is becoming hardly worth it! Not only having to pay as much as buying in the UK because of price guides, but taking more risk with postage and costs for no advantage. Sending something back is really expensive. Something really not fair is when they included the postage costs in the final price, then take a higher cut because of it. It's the buyer who wants the item shipped, not the seller.
  5. It looks good. I think it's original after looking at the pictures, especially with that ultrasonic stamp. Different pressing plants can get there labels printed slightly different from one another. As you probably already know it was booted on Itzy in the 70's.
  6. All grading of records can be hit or miss. Some things are ok for some, but not for others. I did win an expensive record on John Manships auction and it is beautiful mint condition, I think it must one of the best condition copies in existence. I don't mind certain faults, but others I can't put into the collection. These are usually for Ex gradings. Mint- for a very small imperfection. But if it's stated as Mint it should look as good as the day it was made!
  7. Well, who would of thought that Fairmount was before Rouser!! Big label before little label! I suppose it's obvious when you compare both label numbers! Reminds me of the yellow label Pameline with the Palmer release number in the runout deadwax!
  8. Yes, that's the m.g.m variant.👌
  9. Yes that's right👌 There is also another design of original. The mgm press variation.
  10. I have never seen this on original styrene!! Does it exist? All the original demo's and blue issues I have ever seen are on vinyl. There are two different label design, vinyl press originals. The 70's bootleg is also vinyl .
  11. Just click on reply then click on the paper clip. Then go and click on the relevent pictures. They will be added to your reply.
  12. The copy in your picture is not the 70's boot. I think it is the MGM press of this Mirwood. The styrene originals have a darker blue label colour. The larger print vinyl copies are the west coast originals. The vinyl boot was copied from this one.
  13. Looks like one of the originals to me. The vinyl profile looks right and the right print style. Can you see a bed stamp on the flip side? There is another type of vinyl original and a styrene original. The 70's boot had a more pale, lighter blue label.
  14. The standard original of Richard Temple has a Stamped H in the runout grooves. This signifies it was made at the RCA Victor (Hollywood) pressing plant. Also there are some originals that were made at MGM pressing plant. I would think that they have the "bed" stamp. Other MGM pressed Mirwoods have the bed stamp. Mirwood has no rules as to which is first, because they used various different suppliers to make their records. For instance, a lot of there releases were manufactured in styrene by the Monarch record pressing plant. Who would know now, which original copies rolled out of which factory first?
  15. There's some popular records that I don't care for, but try not mention them as I don't want to spoil people's enjoyment of them!
  16. It's a sad day when people are tired of hearing great Northern Soul classics like this!
  17. Well that's helpful!

  21. First issue originals of the great "Secret Agents" on Mirwood 5504 with "We Go Together" on the flip.. Did you take a photo of a great find in quantity? If so they would be good to see!
