  1. Some of these USA record stores have been picked totally clean these days! I have been through hundreds and hundreds of records and found nothing worth buying! UK price guides don't help, as the USA sellers know what to pick out to put on ebay! It was different in 1978 and 1979. Then I was finding lots of goodies! Times have changed!
  2. This is a great quality 70's soul record. Reminds me a little of Douglas and Lonero! It is a pity it's only on LP and not a single 45rpm. The original LP from 1975 is very hard to get now, but it has been reissued on a Look-a-Like L.P. "IF ONLY I COULD PROVE TO YOU"
  3. Bought my mint issue from the Soul Bowl for £10. In those days it was always sold for "What's The Use In Me Trying". Both sides are lyrically a bit depressing. One side is about giving up on life and the other is about being free from this life. I have never known what all the fuss was about with "Let My Heart and Soul be Free". It's ok, but that's all!
  4. Philips styrene is so easy to wear out if played too much! I only played my copy of "You won't change me" Bobby Hebb once or twice to make sure it ok then put it into the collection. Would only play it on a rare occasion! My demo of "Love,Love,Love" plays well, but I have an issue copy as a play copy. They don't cost much to buy. Same goes for Blue Rock styrene! Really easy to wear out!
  5. Sorry to hear this. Sad loss indeed. All there Windy C records are great. Also still like "Stay Close To Me" and some of there other Buddah records.
  6. I bought from the Soul Bowl as an original. It feels and looks like 1960's vinyl plastic. Heavy vinyl, but a slightly brittle feel to it. A bit like a vinyl Gordy or Soul label record. It wasn't much money because common oldies were right out of fashion in the early 1980s' when I bought it. Mostly everyone wanted 60's newies or newly discovered semi-knows at that time. (A lot of which later became the classics of today!)
  7. Sorry I can't answer the original post question, but does anybody know the story on the E.J. Chandler release on Sound Of Soul. I remember it first being played in Wigan about the time Pat Brady was djing there 78/79? The record was very expensive in the first few weeks then it dropped down to about £3 and there was lots of copies for sale. Was this record released about that time 1978/79 on the yellow Sound Of Soul, from an old master tape? Or was it a current recording but sounded like a 60's record? Because the EJ Chandler vinyl does is not look/feel 1960's! The red S.o.S Sandy Waddy vinyl does look 60's!
  8. I had Sandy Waddy on an original Sound Of Soul, but it was a Red label. Definately a 60's original.
  9. I like Esther Phillips Just Say Goodbye, but £650 is really an amazing high price for it!
  10. That's the sort of playlist I remember for M's. Also add "A Little Bit Hurt" Julian Covey. That used to take the roof off! I do remember "My World Is On Fire" Jimmy Mack being played quite a lot, even though now it maybe wouldn't be associated with M's. Youth and top notch gear was needed for M's !
  11. "I Never Knew" - Eddie Foster - In. There's also many more as well, close to that, I first heard at Wigan Casino nighters, that would be the last to go!
  12. This is excellent, really like it. Although the backing track reminds me of "Bet you never thought about it" by the Newsounds in places. Great sound but whats the story with it?
  13. "You're Everything" - Joe Vandiver - Jade. Although someone will probably say they used to play it umpteen years ago!!
  14. "WHOSE LITTLE GIRL ARE YOU" DANNY WILLIAMS UK DERAM. ORIGINAL 1967 FIRST ISSUE. £35 YOU CAN SEE ON THE PICTURES THAT THE DR 41266 NUMBER IS PRINTED UPSIDE DOWN ON BOTH SIDES. THIS WAS COMMON PRACTICE FOR 1960's DECCA/DERAM ORIGINALS. CONDITION IS VG+ THE RECORD PLAYS VERY WELL WITH NO NOTICABLE IMPERFECTIONS. THE VINYL DOES HAVE SEVERAL SCUFF MARKS ON IT, WHEN YOU CATCH THE RECORD IN THE LIGHT. Note:- THE 1977 DERAM LOOKALIKE REISSUE, HAS THE DR 41266 NUMBERS PRINTED THE RIGHT WAY UP. THE BROWN COLOUR ON THE REISSUE IS A LIGHTER COLOUR. IF NOT HAPPY FULL REFUND GIVEN, BUT NOT ON RETURN POSTAGE COST. PAYPAL Friends and family please. Postage is £2.50 for normal 1st class. Add £2 for recorded delivery.
  15. I collect USA originals of records I personally consider classic Northern Soul records. I don't collect certain labels or artists. They just have to be great Northern Soul records. They can be cheap or expensive it doesn't matter. As long as I like them!
  16. Yes but they are all the same records going round and round from dealer to collector/dj and back to dealer! There is very little fresh stock coming in from the States!
  17. I think prices could be getting inflated, because with lockdowns, a lot of USA and UK dealers are finding it hard to move about and find new records to sell. If there is less records about, the prices will go up!
  18. Those record price guides that were sent to the USA, to wise up all the US sellers on the UK prices, did a lot of damage to the ordinary collector!
  19. That's why I said in my original post, relatively rare, and not just rare! They weren't giving the Carstairs white demo originals away in soul packs, that's for sure! I think there are more about now than 35 years ago. It was not particularly common then. I can't remember Soul Bowl having them for sale often, except very occasionally on the rarities section! I don't think only ultra rare records should be on auction. If only real rarities are listed, it makes it too easy for those who have too much money, to get everything with minimal effort!
  20. Nice record, that i like! I don't think it was ever bootlegged! Maybe you put up a picture of it! Could be a west coast styrene demo?
  21. Hi, I have P.M'd you.
  22. It is a true original on the Sterling stamped white demo. Red Coach and distributed by Chess/GRT. The pink issues were only made after it was big on the Northern Scene. These were on Red Coach distributed by Red Lite. Some kind of special product repress! Looks like most were shipped to the UK. Thats why there were hundreds of them in sales boxes, for the price of a pressing, in the mid to late 70's.
  23. Unlike a lot of RCA originals, The Metros is definitely rarer on white demo than a black issue. Fantastic record, but not rare on the black issue.
