  1. Sorry mate - didn't mean it to sound like that - i didn't know if it was uncovered or not so just meant i knew it had been previously covered at some point. I don't get out enough :) ps. The Tavares-esque break down in it is good - reminds me of the similar bit in Second Ressurrection. Glad to hear Dodson is getting action - I haven't had a chance to play it out yet - does it get a good response?
  2. Roy Dodson is great - was previously covered up until now. I got one a while back from an all round nice guy and brilliant record dealer. Is quite an obscure record by all accounts.
  3. Aggregate soul i meant
  4. With Dave on the guitar - choppy, heavy, mean, aggresive aggro soul. Great! The thing is the DoS has tons of its own merits too. You can't go wrong with either and each has its time and place imho. Just a great song.
  5. Mintz for me.
  6. Great times

Try on Youtube. I would of thought you'd of had it? For what it's worth I don't hate it it's just average and imho Sir Joe is a lot better. There's loads of similar dull 60's sounds that were made during that period so you'll be spoilt for choice.

That's the one. I'm surprised we're citing that as a great record against this. That is a classic example of a pretty standard uptempo 60's cut. Flip is a nice slow tune. How that can be a considered far superior to the Sir Joe is beyond me. This is all the wrong way round! This clearly shows it's all about personal taste and not much else? Ho hum.

Yes i 100% would. I can't understand how you could apparently like northern soul and not like this. Makes no sense at all. Saying this has nothing to do with northern is like saying the Dore label has no soul on it. If we were talking about more recent jazz funk style records that are being played then I could agree it's fairly removed from 'traditional' northern sounds but this is as heavy a 60's belter as you'll hear. The beat, the horns, the girly backing, the label, the era - it's all there. Yes the vocal isn't the strongest but as Dave and Cliff says - but when's that stopped a northern record being great? I heard Greety play this at Bisley a while back and it sounded perfect in a big venue. I like hearing new things all the time and with that I hear a lot of old shit but this has all the hallmarks of a great 60's northern soul record. One of the best recent finds along with the Parliaments for me. Each to their own as per usual etc etc. If you find a copy I'll give you £20 and you'll have doubled your money. No need to thank me.

I think it's an absolutely belting 60's powerhouse that sounds well skill out in a club. It's smash the place up good. The horns are a good place to start when I think about how brilliant it is. And no I don't have it / am not going to bid on it / don't have one to sell
  16. Haha BOTH Notations in one day. Some big ol' bucks being yanked out of some big ol' wallets today i'd imagine. This label has some great 45s on it - and all pretty obscure.
  17. Henning> I have now replied to your email - apologies for late reply!

  22. Ah, thanks for the info. I knew Sam had one but didn't know where it had come from. I really like this style of soul but as you say could do with a better quality recording. Known it for a while but only from Manship's R of the R.
  23. At risk of slightly hijacking this thread - how rare is this Kitch (assuming it's 'Every Time I'm Near You')? I read on here the other day 'What It is' is the flip which means that side must of been issued twice. Amazing 45 and sounds like a Clay Brown record in many ways....
