  2. Johnny White is an obscure one, and a great little record.
  3. Theres also a great just as rare Open The Door backing on a Major Burkes 45 on Gulf thats worth checking out. The Vikki Styles is a great 45 too. Thanks for the lift home as well!
  4. Strange - I wonder if the Little Willie Ross is also a later release in that case....?? Is he the same artist?? Could account for re-releasing his earlier Ross material? Also checked my copy at home, matrix info is negligible but definitely nice moulded over vinyl, so I wonder if there is more than one press of the Sac Soul City or indeed if the styrene is the '72 release he is referring to. I've also asked him but had no reply - yet
  5. One of the first r&b 45s i ever bought - great to hear it again....
  6. Max Ubellez cut 'You Better' on Magic Circle. Came out twice. Clip at bottom of the page here: https://www.raresoulm...of-the-rare/M/1
  7. I've got the sac soul city and i'm pretty sure it's on vinyl with a moulded over label....and the sound quality is good. I've seen more Ross copies than the later release too. Little Stanley Lippett's site has Sac Soul City as a '69 Label, the only other thing being Little Willie Ross. Will check the matrix tonight to see there is any more info. Did Bobby fill you in on the this issue's release date Marc? I've no doubt Ross is the first issue but I'm just wondering about the number of years apart - by '72 this would have sounded very dated I would of thought although it might explain why BBR is dated on the label? https://www.stanleyan...t=find Releases From Sir Shambling's site: Dante Carfagna writes about the Sac-Soul City label - "Sac Soul City was run by Danny "Soul" Young, a local promoter and businessman who established himself as a mover-and-shaker on the Sacramento scene. His label's releases, of which there are few, were distributed out of his regional record chain called Danny's Modernistic Soul Shop."

  9. I considered having the little melvin as a spare too. Remember a year or so ago when he had that Noations on Tad for half its current price too? Missed that as well....
