  4. Thanks to everyone for supporting my set last night.......there's a healthy number of people willing to accept all of the music below in the main room at Rugby, which is nice to see! Thanks to Sian for the invite to play there again. Here's the music......the first four caused a bit of head scratching amongst those who know me! LOL 12:00am – 1:00am The Steve Karmen Big Band feat. 5. I get a kind of "sad but somewhow inevitable" feeling when I see "1 per customer" on Juno. Greed! Cheers, Mark R
  6. Yep, another "1 per customer" release at Juno! Cheers, Mark R
  7. I have got mine, had it weeks in fact, but it didn't come with the M-Pac! bonus 45. It's a while ago now but I think the omission of the 45 was down to the pressing plant......can't remember for sure though. I was told the 45 will follow ASAP. In my experience Will is ace to deal with, and only last week he responded with a thank you email after I messaged him to point out that the M-Pac! download version that comes with the LP had x2 tracks missing. He was going to speak with the outfit that handle the download side and get it rectified. My experience tells me that any issue with this will be genuine and the LP's will come as promised. Cheers, Mark R

  9. I haven't been following this, so apologies if I cover old ground with any comments. I understand very well the "rules" the scene tries to implement in this respect, and pretty much agree with them. I certainly have my own standards on the rare occasion I'm asked to play at such an event (though reserve the right to use my CD-R's if I think the equipment is shite!). However, I do think the scene needs to look inwardly now and again and question it's motives etc. Even if it means nothing changes, it pays to view things with an open mind. When doing so, many searching and thought provoking questions come to mind, so it's worth doing so just to "check" yourself. As such, do promoters who hold the view that OVO is paramount thrust themselves forward to pay their DJ's the kind of fee that is commensurate with collecting rare vinyl.........whatever fee might be deemed appropriate...........certainly more than their petrol money!! I doubt it.......but OVO is SOOOO important! Cheers, Mark R
  10. R.I.P. Souther Soul/Blues man Mel Waiters. Here's my favourite Mel track, lifted from what I thinks was his first album, from the days of the cassette tape compilations when we used to put each other onto the latest tunes. My mate Reece Sestak from London loves this little two-stepper from one of my cassettes from way back when! Sleep well Mel, and thanks for the music! x
  11. My missus went to school with founding member Neil Sheasby (bass) and Phil Ford (drums - if it's the same Phil Ford but she suspects it must be). The connection is basically the town of Atherstone where they both come from (and the Mrs obviously), and although it makes no mention of it in their blurb, I'm pretty sure The 'Stone' Foundation comes from a shortening of Atherstone! It all traces back to some of the band being in a group The Dance Stance way back around the town. Interestingly, Neil also does record fares. I know SS likes a bit of trivia/history behind it's music, so thought it worth mentioning! Cheers, Mark R

  13. Check this out guys, might be of interest to some. I missed it at the event but was told how good it was and caught up with this recording. How to put a set of tunes together........... Fantastic! Cheers, Mark R
  14. Might get my knuckles wrapped for putting this in here, but it is a stormer...........check it out here @ 1:18:40........no finer DJ for introducing a record like this! https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/old-vic-wolverhampton-all-dayer-28-december-1986/ Cheers, Mark R
  15. Interesting.........a quick check confirms that it's the same Peacefrog label mentioned that I have some releases on!! Cheer, Mark R

  18. Hi folks, thought some of you might like this.....my Soul Underground set captured LIVE! last Saturday over in Walsall. Check out Lin's "Soul Underground" on Soundcloud for other great LIVE!! recordings from last week and previous events. And a big shout to Glenn Worthington for the live percussion alongside the set............. Cheers, Mark R
  19. Another SJ winner......picked one up off Fish on Saturday night! Cheers, Mark R
  20. If you find a random file online it's unlikely to be a WAV. This is something you are likely to need creating.....best way would be from a re-mastered CD compilation if it exists on one. That way you won't get a crackly record cut to another crackly record resulting in crackly squared!! LOL Cheers, Mark R
  21. Sorry to read this. Condolences to his family and friends. R.I.P. Joe. Mark R
