  1. With exposure on a UK TV show, it makes you wonder why all the blue copies are so rare, compared to the yellow promos.
  2. Not ultra rare, but much harder than demos .... Robert Walker - Stick To Me - RCA Dana Valery - You Don't Know ... - Columbia Cheers Mick
  3. As a side point, anyone know how come we can still see some very old eBay listings: the one on this page is from Dec 2011 ? I've seen it a few times in the past, but generally they all expire after a few many months. Cheers Mick
  4. I didn't when I had it.
  5. I bought one off Sam about 1980/81. Think it ended up going when I sold most of my stuff in the early/mid eighties. Seem to remember it was a vocal to some Inst by Cliff Nobles. Cheers Mick
  6. If you mean Manifesto, then yes, four colour vinyl, same as the Eddie Foster boots. I mentioned the green label to differentiate from the yellow labeled copies. Cheers Mick
  7. Yes, but a long time ago, It was the green label - possibly Clive Jones had it, but we're talking about 35 years ago. At the time I had a 4 colour Eddie Foster but the grass was always greener on the other side, so as soon as I saw the Manifesto, I wanted it, even though I was never struck on the record.
  8. Looking for a clean copy of South Suburban Rhythm Section (spelt as title above) - Libras really do run it. Either blue or yellow label will be fine. (Not sure which came first) Just let me know the price. Cheers Mick
  9. Maybe the Professionals on Gold Vinyl (I should say this is NOT mine, nor is it ever likely to be) Cheers Mick
  10. Rob , if the Delta is that number, then it dates to late May 1977 Cheers Mick
  11. I've noticed Secret Stash appear to have suffered from the bootleggers. The Valdons "Stop, Wait A Minute" is now available on a yellow repress (SS original press is Yellow, and their second press is Gold). There now appears to be a further repress. Yellow label, but nothing like the first two ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351330186428 I assume it's a boot, as I can't see Secret Stash repressing it yet again, when they still have have Gold copies for sale. Cheers Mick
  12. Not really sure, but think the PG in Tesco might have been a year or two after '69. As said, really before my time.
  13. Apart from the dingles, they did have singles. It must have been a few years before my time, but our late friend Blue Max told be the first copy of Perlean Gray came from a Tesco (possibly somewhere in Telford, as I don't think we had a Tesco in Wolverhampton at that time, else we would have used it for shopping). Apparently, there was only the one copy of Perlean Gray in that Tesco at the time, but multiples of other titles. Cheers Mick
  14. I also have a styrene issue. Seems ther must be copies of both formats on both vynyl and styrene.
  15. RCA re-released loads about 84/85 (I think it was about then but I might be +/- a year either way). I don't know how many they did re issue, but it must be close to 100 titles. Amongst them was F Wilson, F Valli 3024, loads of commercial classics / hits, all on black labels. Having said that., I don't remember the Contours being amongst them, but it clearly must have been. Cheers Mick
  16. Maybe it's me but the singer seems to keep saying "take th sh*t'' about 9 times. Does that count. Yes, it does sound like a Y2K retro thing. Cheers Mick
  17. As far a Charay goes, No, they are the same. The recordings are identical apart from the instrumental break being cut out on the LP. One thing I'm pretty sure about is that Martha Starr (Cressa Watson) is not Martha Star. Cheers Mick
  18. There's whites demos and dark red issues of both Sassy releases, both with "Love" and "Just A B side" Cheers Mick
  19. Great stuff, hadn't seen that before
  20. Yes, I only know about it because someone else mentioned it on here a few years back, and I was trying to find out if it was real or not. Only info I had was someone on here saw it on a US playlist, duly contacted the US poster and was told it had been sold to a UK collector. I don't even know if the song was a vocal, and if so, whether it was another version on either Moonlight or What Shall I Do, or even a new song. I'll beleive it when I see it, although with such a widely used backing track, Teddy Vann could easily have recorded more versions that never made it to vinyl. Cheers Mick
  21. Nothing to do with the auction price or even the vinyl aspect of the songs (Milton Wright), but there have always been two schools of thought regarding this. One is that it was an original recording that JA released from original tapes. The second was that the vocals were only recorded in the seventies, making it a "modern" custom recording for the scene (similar to Baby You're The Fire" etc.) Although I don't think many thought it was a fake, reading John A's email further up, at least that has been resolved (if there was any doubt in the first place). Cheers Mick
  22. Hey thanks Frankie, nice of you to say so.
  23. The Vocals ... 1 - Frankie & Classicals "What Shall I Do" (With Cold Start) - Calla 2 - Frankie & Classicals "What Shall I Do" (With Talk In Intro)- Calla 3 - Laura Greene "Moonlight Music In You" - RCA 4 - The Essex "Moonlight Music And You" - Bang The Instrumentals ... 5 - Subway Riders "After The Session" - Moonshot (probably not the correct title, as this tune only appears on some copies, most have an unrelated audio of session musicians talking after a recording, which is probably the intended B side, as it also makes sense of the title. 6 - Honey Townsend "The World Again" - Mala. 7 - Burning Emotions "The New World" - Bang (not to be confused with the ABC release, which is a different song altogether). 8 - Mark Johnson "The Beautiful Place" - Diamond (Identical to Burning Emotions but this has the slow intro cut out). That's eight, and apart from the RCA acetate of the Cheerleaders (which I don't know, but understand it to be the same backing track), that's all there is. If you have a total of 16 / 17, I can only assume this is adding up all the different label variations of the same songs eg demos and issues / Phiips / Pye DD / all the different colours of RCA etc. Cheers Mick
  24. It is a different mix, most of the strings are missing, especially in the inst break. The mispress (in terms of vinyl mastering and production) all over the place. The A side is labelled "The Bounce" (66-3052-A) - The runout etching is 66-3052-A. So far so good, however it plays the "Same Old Thing" (Alt) The B side is labelled "The Duck" (66-3053-B) - The runout etching is 66-3052-B. So that doesn't line up. Add to that the fact it plays "The Bounce" rounds off a very bad day in the office. I'm sure this mispress is a 70's job, via Soussan. It is much the same in style as the 70's Ciggarette Ashes etc. with that miniscule hint of silver in the blue label. I can post a sound file directly here, but are we allowed to these days ? I know a few years ago mods were killing the direct downloads (apart from sales), but I've seen more than a few in recent times. If not, just PM me and I'll "bounce" it to you. Cheers Mick
