  1. thanks so much, the comments give the names of the three singers and say they were occasionally joined by Jackie Edwards and Hazel McCauley. I guess they must be the "five" in Marvels Five. Do the other 35 45s sound like straight soul also or are most of them reggae?
  2. I reread through this thread and now I'm confused. Why was the Marvels Five record (which got a US release on uptown) posted? Are the Marvels Five the same group as the Marvels (maybe plus 2 members)? Is one of the people on the pic sleeve Jackie Edwards? Anyone got a full discography of the soul records by this one (or two) groups? thanks in advance.
  3. No, just pointing out the german sleeve that I have (on the injection label) is the same photo as the green sleeve but is an ugly brownish red instead of green. Thanks everyone for all the info on the group in this thread, I knew nothing about them and was interested in finding out more.
  4. this sounds more like they were trying to find an excuse not to pay versus some specific rule about bubble wrap. Someone was telling me that they never successfully claimed against a record in new york because the post office people made stuff up every time about a record being too fragile, not insurable, etc.
  5. I have the german release and my pic sleeve isn't green like the one pictured

thanks everyone for the info on the creations vs. prophets, i always thought they were the same and it was a straight reissue. i wonder why they changed the group name? maybe it's a different group?
  7. Hi Phil. The Fiats, while recorded in detroit, is actually a new york group connected to the Lost Souls. Info here: https://www.venturemusicgroup.com/pmp/chs.htm Great record.
  8. thanks i will check that out. do you believe is my favorite of the 4 on the EP.
  9. thanks a lot for the info. I actually had heard that it was supposed to be side effect, but I would like more details / info. Side Effect didn't start recording until 1975 and the true effect EP has a (P) 1973 mark on it. If so, are they demos? was the group actually called True Effect? Who got ahold of these recordings and put them out? Or is the connection just speculation due to the "effect" thing being in common. Thanks a lot.
  10. I will say that his grading now is significantly better than it used to be (if you can believe that). The new ebay DSRs and seller only negatives have forced some of the worst ebay sellers to improve (and I'm finding that some sellers who used to be crappy graders are now super conservative all of a sudden). Also, he no longer ships 45s inside an LP sleeve taped to the actual LP, which was not only unsafe but actually embarassing to get. All of that said, he could get significantly better and he'd still be one of the worst sellers.
  11. I'm pretty sure the current seller's "VG" is significantly cleaner than the "VG-" one on ebay. You have to look at the photos and listen to the soundclips for clues. On soul source you have no idea if the person you're buying from is a conservative grader or not. And people here tend to be either really conservative graders or bad graders. Yet both types of people sell an "EX" record for the same price and you usually don't even have photos to gauge their grading. The majority of people I have dealt with here are pretty conservative graders though, it's just annoying to get a record from the few remaining sellers who are all the way at the other end. Almost nobody here is in the middle for some reason.
  12. one of the sleaziest record dealers in history. this thread about him is funny: https://waxidermy.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35722&hilit=nachoman
  13. yes, i was able to find the copies that were on ebay.
  14. Anyone know what's the story with the 4-song true effect silver label EP? Is it another group's material bootlegged or something? It also sounds like it's been taken off a cassette or something as it's low fidelity. Who pressed it up? I appreciate any info.
  15. i only see the common summits on dc international on that page for 10 pounds, not the one manship sold. that webpage is awesome though, looks like it's been run through the geocitiesizer (https://wonder-tonic.com/geocitiesizer/) but it's not
  16. I don't think this was a noisy pressing (although this isn't rare, probably many copies were pressed, so i guess there could be an issue with some pressing). Did you try cleaning the record?
  17. so are you just bootleggers? because in your intro you even say that you don't clear the rights to everything. Am I misunderstanding?

Georgia Prophets on Smash got released on Eric as "the creation" for some reason. I think Eric was a legit reissue label and not a bootleg label. Similar to collectables. it also explains why they're still in business.
  19. I think there's one up here right now, and craig moerer if not others has it on ebay right now. it *was* a very hard record to find at least. maybe once all the copies that are coming out now are gone it will be hard to find again?
  20. I don't know the record but this has to be mack simmons
  21. boba replied to Sjclement's topic in Look At Your Box
Kris, are you sure that the early 60s big sambo eric label is the same label as the reissue eric?
  22. it took me many years to get a copy, nothing like high prices to bring a bazillion copies up for sale all at once.
  23. there are two records on the sin label, the harry moon and the fide record that you have and there is also a nice sweet record by Harry and Vee Vee
  24. . speaking of people getting VG- (or probably "G") 45s to look like they're brand new, I had this interaction recently with an ebay seller. I'm censoring his user name. Dear , Hi. I received this record today. It was FAR from what was described. Your description said "Vinyl: VG++ (no scratches or scuffs)". Actually there were deep scratches visible on both sides of the disc. Additionally, the record has been polished to hide / dull down the scratches. This is not the first polished record I have gotten from you, the last record I got from you by Ex-Ta-C was extremely overgraded, it was polished and played crackly. That is an extremely shady practice that does nothing to improve the playing of the record and only serves to hide the bad condition of the record. It's also totally visible to anybody who knows what a polished record looks like. It also did not even hide the deep scratches on this record, which were still visible (although slightly duller), despite you saying that there were no scratches. Ideally you should not polish 45s and instead grade them honestly, however, you should at least disclose it if you do. Thank you. -boba. Dear boba., Hello, You know what? You are exactly correct. I should have disclosed the records as polished. I didn't think of it as being deceitful, but you're right, it is. The records looked clean and I must admit that I did not play-grade them. I am willing to refund your money in full if that is your request. Please let me know. Dear , Your reply is disarming ... I will not leave any feedback. I don't need a refund. Thank you. -boba. ------------ a day later I actually played the record (it was something I already had and bought for the label variation) and found it was literally unplayable. i got mad all over again and sent the next message. ----------- Dear , I just tried playing this record. It was totally unplayable, the noise overwhelms the music. I don't understand how you could possibly claim what you are doing is not deceitful. I'm sure you're very aware of how you're ripping people off and misrepresenting records. -boba. Dear boba., Hi Bob, I just issued you a full refund for the Good Good People 45. No need to return it. Other than saying I'm sorry, I 'm not sure what else I can do. Best regards.
