  3. Ive seen it as a look-a-like boot Dave, and it was played out - the guy is a whizz on label scanning ! so whether these things are booted in abundance or not it appears easy to make your own if you ahve a decent printer lol
  4. stumbled across a small bar near the marina in playa de las americas in tenerife about 6 yrs or so ago and they were playing northern (on tape or cd) even in the daytime so stayed and had a few beers listening to the tunes, owners were of course ex-pats into northern, window was covered in soul memorablia - went back last year and it had closed

Dunno Pete how would we know if it was only played once unless at oNe venue you attended every week certainly the first post states cal tjader, heard that out quite a lot back in the day and many a time since, never heard of matt simmons or earnest fitzgerald so they may have been one-offs I guess? (can name a few records - some so-called big 'uns of today that showuldve been one-plays maybe another post there.

  11. Got the LP Out Of Sight on Decca if I remember right, has a slighlty different ending - probably about 2-3 secs longer than the Charger version. Was a tough LP to get at one time

I remember most of my msuical youth Carmen Remember when first got into Northern, going to Rumbelows in Stockport circa 1976, upstairs they sold a few records - a cardboard box full of Northern boots (Johnny Vanelli, Jimmy Mack, etc), which we didnt have a clue at the time what a bootleg was as we hadnt been any niters by then as we were still at school. They had these listening booths with earphones where you could listen to the tunes before you bought, my first real taste of Northern happened there, soon as we had any money in our pockets off we dashed on the bus to Stockport to buy these tunes at around 50p a throw. Even before that as far back as primary school i used to wait in anticipation for T.Rex's new single to come on the radio or TOTP and hearing it for the 1st time

  18. think this has been done to death but agree with kev, nothing worse than someone on before you playing a boot of a tune youve searched for years to get one and probably paid a price for it
