  1. Pete Eccles replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Without giving it too much thought, 'David Ruffin - Statue of a fool' immediately springs to mind
  2. Does this mean a DJ with better records but useless with a mic would automatically become proficient with a mic if he sold his collection? Or if a DJ with mediocre records and good with a mic would suddenly become useless with a mic when he/she improves their playbox? Because that's how it reads, How on earth can someone be good with a mic BECAUSE they have mediocre records?
  3. Kev, if what you wished for filled main rooms would it not follow that that would be the order of the day? Not saying what should or shouldn't be the policy of any particular night, as Matt has pointed out you can find whatever you want if you look for it, but if you want a night to play to your tastes instead of what works that venue then ya gonna be moanin indefinitely I reckon,
  4. Is that Neil? Just checked ya profile/posts, so can only be the same Neil?
  5. Pretty sure Andy Smith (smudgesmith on here) has an issue, sure he will verify one way or the other if/when he sees this,
  6. Heard that somewhere before
  7. Oh well carry on,
  8. Probably me, but I still can't see the point of question 2, can't vote on the subject that brought this poll about without voting on Q2, Like asking, do you want secure parking, alcohol served, to travel less/more than xxx miles, certain finishing time, all nothing at all to do with the OVO/Boot poll that was requested, and throws the whole vote outta sync IMO
  9. Wasn't having a pop, just didn't/don't see the relevance, like asking would you like a large dancefloor, no connection the 'boot/OVO' theme,
  10. Considering this is a poll that's a direct result of the 'boot/OVO' thread, I'm not sure why question 2 is there at all
  11. Can't stand curry, to each his own though, All's good Paul, you too I trust
  12. But apart from that........................
  13. No it's gone Win, chalks made a bit of a pigs ear of it, bless, still I wouldn't know where to start
  14. Let's go round again, save starting another thread in a few weeks, just keep going back to the beginning every 8 or so pages,
  15. When I saw the first post of the thread I thought 'surely there can't be any mileage in this topic again' Note to self - never underestimate an OVO v boot thread
  16. One just gone up in sales, (ringleader)
  17. Dave says he reckons it was filmed (clip 3) around 77 in a studio in Manchester on a Wednesday afternoon, and then onto the Casino later,
  18. Well Dave is now 53/54 and about 15 stone without being fat, so the clip has got to be quite old
  19. The 3rd clip, the other white lad is Dave Litherland (lugsy) from Horwich (now Carlisle) and has to be an old clip, I'l ask him for more info
  20. Norman soul and a bit of Motown is the new Bingo, and not the half hour bingo played in the working mens clubs in between the turns, the night out at the bingo hall of the 70's is now a night of Motown for the 40/50 somethings,
  21. I've always been lead to believe the Majestics on Linda is the first release, which always begs the question - does changing the label and credits ie David and Reuben not make this a re-issue? Therefore being the scurge of all OVO enthusiasts, because lots seem to look at the Rampart release as more desirable, now that is confusing
  22. Everytime this topic arises the same 2 records spring to mind, after a quick look through this thread I don't think either have had a mention, so it could just be me, but I find these 2 tracks teeth itchingly dreadful, bearing in mind they have been and still are in some cases immensely popular Holly St James - That's not love Dee Clark - That's my girl
  23. This will be fun https://www.richardsearling.co.uk/2011/07/20/original-wigan-djs-back-together-again/
  24. No, that version must be a boot
  25. That's me, dull as dishwater and hates to disagree, Hope you find a suitable opponent to engage in your riveting Friday evening choice of entertainment, Me, I gotta wash my hair
