Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
Whilst I'm all in favour of these lists type threads, are we sure that people are being honest about what they actually hate? Being pissed off about an overplayed track is one thing but actually saying that something like "Queen of fools" is worthy of hate doesn't make sense to me. Now I know it's all about opinions but surely there are a slew of tracks to hate before we descend into detesting some of tracks that are actually the bedrock of the scene. I'm not being dewy eyed about this, just trying to understand what motivates an opinion. Be gentle with me.

Why Do We Dislike Al Wilson's The Snake So Much?
Why if you don't like something does it become about elitism? It's just not a very good record in my opinion. It has limited appeal to me because of it's lyrical content and general all round pop styling and whilst it might well get people to the dance floor on a regular basis, I am not one of them.

1963-2013 Soul Music Rip
I understand your sadness Cunnie, but Blues and Soul has not been representative of any music scene that I identify with for a long long time. As for the burgers and the shoes, that in itself forms only a tiny element of what makes our music scene still worth being proud of. There is still so much that excites and delights, the shite has to be ignored.

Bobby Sheen - Sweet Sweet Love
You know what, that might be where I remember it from. I used to listen to Searling on Red Rose religiously. Might have even got a spin or two at the Halfway House.

Bobby Sheen - Sweet Sweet Love
Chris, I was curious as to when it got dance floor action seeing as it would have been known as the flip to Dr Love, and how it's tempo would have been received. So really looking for the jock and the place where it might have gained early popularity.

Bobby Sheen - Sweet Sweet Love
Who was responsible for bringing this to the masses and when. Sublime. Ta much

Print Your Own Records
F**k me - another medium to argue about. This takes the OVO argument to another stratospheric level.

John Manships Auction Results 26-12-2012
The Prophets - 10k, absolutely sublime group harmony and even if that price is obscene in some eyes, the owner has one of the finest tracks ever put on vinyl.

"simon Soussan" Update ?
Aid, I get that too but sometimes you have to appreciate the less obvious things that certain people have done and I think he contributed at least as much good stuff as bad. Just an even handed view, that's all.

"simon Soussan" Update ?
I don't disagree Aid, I was on the wrong end of some of his dealings but........ He definitely shaped part of the Northern Soul landscape and is therefore worthy of reflective assessment, good or bad.

So Was 2012 A Good Year For You Soulwise? Nuffin Negative
Did some very interesting podcasts , don't you mean Pete. Well they were to me anyhow. And you smashed your way through 30,000 posts, an achievement of a kind. Funny old year for me - some great music via CD swaps, my eternal gratitude to those folk that expanded my knowledge of this wonderful music of ours. Some great events too but limited to frequency by the usual restrictions. Personally a difficult year but always optimistic about the future. Have a good one, Pete and fellow sourcers. Mike.

"simon Soussan" Update ?
Appreciate what you are saying Robb.
-
"simon Soussan" Update ?
So Robb just how many records do you have? Given that you've been collecting for a considerable time I would imagine it's a sizeable collection. Have you always retained your stuff or have you traded/moved stuff on at times?

John Manships Auction Results 19-12-2012
I simply cannot understand the motivation for people to pay out sums like this where surely a little research and internet trawling would give them the true value. Absolute madness.

Tavares - Let Me Heal The Bruises
That's the thing about groups like Tavares - probably overlooked by many due to the disco stuff but some really quality from them including the one posted by your goodself.

Tavares - Let Me Heal The Bruises
Ha ha posted just as you were confirming what I expected.

Tavares - Let Me Heal The Bruises
indeed they do as they do with Johnny Bristol's "Strangers in dark corners" which Steve Edgar also highly rates.

- Tavares - Let Me Heal The Bruises
Steve Edgar put this on a CD some time ago and I was reminded of it when it came on my i-pod. Sometimes its simple enough to have thread to say what a magnificent piece of music this is. For those that don't know it, check it out. A Sam Dees masterpiece. - Tavares - Let Me Heal The Bruises
