  1. Is Ritchie Adams - " Better off without you" a bit too slow to be a beat ballad? Either way another wonderful Randazzo track. Another favourite of mine is Barbara Banks - "Ain't I worth a dime"
  2. Definitely one of my favourite genres, so for me stuff like: Charades - Never set me free Jerry Fuller - Turn to me Ed Townsend - Don't lead me on Jean Wells - Don't come running to me would do it every time.
  3. Of course
  4. There was a two and a half hour slot on Sunday - Rod Allsworth and Jimmy Scriv. Make of that what you will. Agree about Stevie Woomble. Should know this but who is Agentsmith - must have listened to him on Saturday at some point but too many sherbets affecting the memory.
  5. Ok Chris - got it now.
  6. Appreciate that you didn't say it Kegsy but the inference is that it was Richard unless Matt is prepared to say that it wasn't. I was there on Saturday and some of what Matt says is true about repetition, tired oldies etc but I go for the social side of things, mainly but seriously enjoyed the Circus (modern) stuff and was one of those that listened and danced to Soul Sam in the walkway, on a carpet, on Saturday night so all was not lost.
  7. I said this before on another thread. Why would Richard have to resort to playing boots? As far as I know his collection is still intact unless somebody knows otherwise.
  8. Ok - are you saying at a single northern venue? I would have expected a different track if we are trying to establish the most played anywhere. Epitome of Sound. Frankie Beverley, Yvonne Baker - that kind of thing, but even then it would be extremely subjective, wouldn't it?
  9. How have you arrived at that,Chris?
  10. In what way is it considered dodgy, Chalky? I dont like it for what it's worth but can see it's appeal for some.
  11. Steinways - You've been leading me on Wally Cox - This man Montclairs - Hung up on your love Tempos - Countdown Charades - Key to my happiness Dells - Run for cover Darrell Banks - I'm the one who loves you Voices of East Harlem - Cashing in Edward Hamilton - Baby don't you weep Epitome of Sound - You don't love me These would do it for me everytime.
  12. The best £4 anybody could ever spend.
  13. An essential part of anybody's soul music education. It's in part to the continued enthusiasm and dedication of those at Kent that the music continues to prosper. Congrats all round.

Can't comment on individual reasons for no longer posting on here, but its seems such a shame if somebody like Malc comes to the conclusion that he can longer contribute because of the so called 'politics' of the scene. Perhaps we need to remind ourselves of the need to obtain a sense of perspective when it comes to Internet forums. It's not real life as we know it.
  15. Oh but I was there. It was a music scene, everything else was incidental. You just want to assume that nobody does it your way because as we know 'you're on the scene' as you constantly remind us ad f*cking naseum.

Didn't even know he was not in the UK but thanks for the update.
  17. Why just middle class? Go back and do a search on any number of threads about cheap as chips tracks that could/ought to be played out and see that the scene does not have to be the exclusive playground of the minted DJ.
  18. No, no, no. It is not always about money. Of course some 'celebrated' jock will have a collection worth a lot of dosh but a good DJ will be able to get the best out of a night with tracks that don't have to cost the earth. Why this needs to keep being repeated is beyond me. It's all about imagination.
  19. But once anyone can do it, where's the distinction between good, bad and indifferent? Overkill of the same product, whenever, wherever will accelerate the end of the scene. Is that what people want?

Anybody know why Malc doesn't post on here anymore? Always good value from Malc,s postings.
  21. Macca, I know he was there but his comments are so often removed from what I, and I suspect a lot of others, remember from this period. More than a music scene, I don't think so. Just my opinion, mind.
  22. Such a sweeping generalisation again. Were you actually there?
  23. You stick to your principals, Russ. I think the reason why most people are ambivalent to the ethos you support is because the values that may have existed in an earlier period within their life, have been diluted by the progress that 21st century life provides. Once you have unlimited access to music for example in a convenient and painfree medium, it ceases to have substantive value on any level. For some, access in this manner trumps any feeling of achievement in searching out new sounds in the manner that was accepted as the norm when travelling to a venue to hear the sounds sourced by a jock who spent the time and effort in doing so, was the only way.
