  1. Isn't it great when you hear a track that you've never heard before and think "How good is that". Listening to Andy Peebles on Smooth FM on Saturday night he played "One on one" by PPM and I genuinely thought that it was a superb track, which I had never heard before. Where does it come from and did it ever get any action on (any part of) the scene? He also played a track by Donny Hathaway called "I know it's you" which was also excellent and which comes from a Leon Ware album, which appears to be some form of collabaration with other artists. Anybody know this as well?

  5. Doesn't look like it got a release. Full title "It's a desperate situation" was co written by Ivy Jo and has appeared on CD by Jimmy Ruffin and Marvin Gaye.

I wasn't suggesting that you thought that there may something untoward with regrads to this company's demise - it's just that "liquidation" can be a provocative term to use as it often indicates insolvency and therefore loss to someone. Voluntary dissolution actions are often instigated by Companies House for non filing of statutory returns, but where a company is no longer required, the directors simply let the action run it's course. Of course any interested parties can object to the dissolution, but that does not appear to be the case here.

A voluntary dissolution suggests that it's come to the end of it's life and is no longer required. There may have been some liabilities but without knowing the full extent of the financial position at the dissolution stage, it is pure speculation to believe that there may have been losses somewhere.

Not quite right. The company was the subject of a voluntary dissolution.
  9. Who's responsible for this then, Pete?

  11. Agreed. Wonderful record, poignant lyrics.
  12. Ady, If you don't already know R & B Indies lists 2 further Hollywood Saxons tracks: 2000 - "Do it right/The first time" 2022 - "Hey girl/Please be my love tonight" It doesn't list the Professionals track, however under Action Pack but Action. Same label?
  13. Yeah, I know what you mean and by "these circles" I would include our friends across the pond. I am genuinely fascinated to know how such a record ends up being picked by a potential mainstream artist (who incidentally should have won the competition in the first place).Maybe it's not that much of a stretch given the Shrine mystique, but somebody, somewhere knew the track sufficiently well to put it forward. In the article boba posted she says that she has heard " a demo version" of the song - what does she mean by " a demo version" in this context? Either way it is an excellent track and one that will ensure that she gets off to a great start as a solo singer (I hope).
  14. It would be interesting to find out how the song became known to the artist/producer and how they came to choose it. Blindingly obscure outside of these circles, you would imagine.

I suppose that's one way to make a first post Interesting (personal) observation - wonder what the general reaction will be, given the heady level of enthusiasm that exists amongst this forum's membership.

  24. Right, Andy we've established it's not Kennys 'cos he said it's not for sale. Ergo it's Tim's. I understand confidentiality, but if it is Tim's why doesn't somebody just come out and say so Thinking about it, if it is Tim that's selling he must believe that Manship's auction gives him a better chance of achieving a higher price than his own auction. Maybe, possibly, probably....
