  1. Thank you, Marc. Perfectly clear, now.
  2. I'm confused, now. Is it for sale or not? Post 58 suggested that Kenny had said it wasn't for sale and John Manship has posted on this thread without confirming or denying it.
  3. Didn't Ron Murphy sell the other known copy (the one that Kenny Burrell owns) to Martin Koppel, in the first place? Is it known how he acquired his copy and when, at the time it was pressed or later?
  4. Wanted please, an original US issue on the Soul label of Frank Wilson's "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) " I have made the decision to pursue a copy of this record and have put loan finance arrangements in place in anticipation of a copy being offered to me. Payment will be made within one week of the agreement to purchase, by international transfer. I am willing to nominate a price of $25,000.00 (US Dollars) for a mint copy but I am open to negotiate that price depending on condition and all other relevant factors. Obviously appropriate delivery and insurance arrangements will have to be discussed, but I am prepared to factor in the cost of an international courier to effect personal door to door delivery anywhere in the world. All commmunications must remain strictly confidential and it may be that I ask the seller to execute a strict confidentiality agreement regarding the sale. Serious sellers and dealers please, no time wasters. Thank you for your attention. Sunnysoul, this was your post back in February 2007, wasn't it? Still interested?
  5. Not included in the Ohio Soul Recordings list 1029 Tony Church & the Crusade - "Love trip/Can you picture yourself" 1030 Alberto Combo - "Somewhere my love/How sweet it is" 1031 The Edsels - "Hide and seek/Another lonely night" 1032 Fred Grace - "And bless Dr King/Born free" 1036 Larry J Greene - "Another loneley night/The girl I love" 1776 We The People - "Tricky Dick's got to go/Tricky Dick's secret tapes" Might be considered "non-soul" per the website, as they list "only soul releases" There are earlier tracks in the late 50's and 60's from The Del-Rays, The Edsels, The Mar-vels etc if you want the details.

"It'll never be over for me" Who takes the credit for giving this masterpiece it's first turntable action, and when? Ps, does anybody not think that this is one of the finest pieces of music, ever? Anybody out there prepared to say that they don't like it?

If I remember rightly the extended version in Refosoul is very poor sound quality, Would be good to hear a "clean" recording.
  11. There appears to be a Blue Star label out of LA with a track by the Dreamers listed.
  12. Complete details from Sebastian.
  13. The "Johnny Wonderful" listing shows no number and no address/city for the label. The track listing is shown as "Ain't nothing shakin' here/Unknown"
  14. If you're after the Arin Demain "Blue Star" label, R & B Indies lists only that one track. There are 4 other Blue Star labels but not many tracks between them.
  15. Clocking in at 32 seconds, the intro to Four Below Zero - "ESP" whilst not necessarily being a killer, always gets me going. The extended version has a great instrumental middle. Can anbody post it up? (Sebastian?)
  16. Sorry, Bob, I did get last weeks but have not had chance to hear it. Double helpings!
  17. Looking forward to hearing this one tonight. I've missed the music shows, even if the interviews are fascinating.
  18. Well, it was only a matter of time before common sense prevailed. As far as I can see posts from Trouble and Paul-S have served no other purpose than to provoke a response from Levine in order to simply continue their ridicule/baiting of him. Properly constructed questions, delivered with sincerity as opposed to sarcasm have been put forward by other (well respected) members and dealt with properly by Levine. There may well be some self serving motive for IL to be on this forum, only he can say for certain if that is the case, but there is no point whatsover in putting up offensive and derogatory comments, disguised as pertinent questions, and then being surprised if there is no response. It needn't have come to this because both Trouble and Paul-S could have stayed away from the threads as their involvement in previous IL threads fully documented their views on IL and his current views. Fair do if you disagree with them, but for f**ks sake, how many times does that message have to be put across? We got it, I'm sure IL got it, so why not leave it at that. Some people can't help themselves, I suppose.
  19. It's beyond my humble comprehension, that people cannot consider this to be anything other than a magnificent piece of Northern Soul music. It has all the ingredients of a classic northern track - a great intro, thumping rhythm, passable vocals ( in the context of the song ) and a great production. It ticks all the boxes as far as I'm concerned. Add to this, the origins of the track, it's rarity and price and you have something of considerable merit. But..... Due to it being significantly over-exposured and massively over-hyped ( and add in the Kev Roberts factor ), the kudos and mystique that should remain with the record, has, for a lot of folk, diminished and the record has lost much of its appeal. On this basis it would be of no consequence to me if I never heard it again, and I probably could come up with many, many tracks that I would place ahead of this in a favourites list, which from the earlier posts seems to apply to a few of us. However, shite, it most certainly isn't

Issue through e-bay last June for $251. A few demos over the years appear to achieve less.

Played the '62 version, explaining how it came to be re-recorded.

Seconded. If the music posted in 2009 is half as good as last year, we are in for a cracker Best wishes to all for the New Year. Mike.

Sean, Thanks for that. In someways it doesn't surprise me that it was one of your spins, or at least from the period that you say. It fits in with what I can believe was happening at the time. Magnificent piece of soul, but not quite right for the masses at the time. By the time I became aware of it, I was surprised that it hadn't been "discovered" earlier, given the stature of Darrell Banks as a Northern icon. Just wonderful.
  24. You tell him, Pete. The neck on some people
