JM's 4th guide has it listed as "unconfirmed test press" for VIP 25031. This issue number is also for "Don't be too long/Do right baby, do right" by Chris Clark. Perhaps it should read VIP 25034 which is the issue for the Velvelettes "These things will keep me loving you" as apparantly the two records were scheduled to be released on the same number. Info from www.seabear.se.
  2. JM has it in his 4th guide. Scepter 12159. Flip is "Long, long trail" The guide also suggests it may have been either booted or re-issued using the original label name. At £500 value, must have been booted? Also appears in the Sceptre discography

    Thanks, mate
  4. Anybody got a sound clip of the Softiques "Bashful (I'm that kinda girl)" - Sheldon. Any others from this label apart from the Condors " Let me down easy" Cheers
  5. JM has it listed at £25 in the 4th guide.
  6. Info can be found at www.bsnpubs.com/discog.hmtl Find the listings for Chess which, whilst they relate to albums, might also give a clue to single label changes.
  7. Any trip to Philly would not be complete without a visit to Val Shively's amazing store (4m+ 45's and lp's) at 49 Garrett Road, Upper Darby. Stuff about the shop and a youtube clip have featured on here before and I'm sure that other's will recommend a trip. Just don't expect any bargains!
  8. Currently at a big £500 per JM's latest

JM has the red label listed at £200. Last one through e-bay only reached $76 in 2006
  10. There's lots of these, across lots of musical genres : "Sweet home Alabama" Lynard Skynard in response to Neil Young's "Southern man" "I'm Mr Big Stuff" Jimmy Hicks in response to Jean Knight's "Mr Big Stuff" "I'll save the last dance for you" Damito Jo in response to the Drifters "Save the last dance for me" "From his woman to you" Barbara Mason in response to Shirley Brown's "Woman to woman" etc, etc, etc
  11. Being a 21st century kinda guy, I thought this was going to be a thread about records to iron to!
  12. Only one through e-bay in 2004 at £36.
  13. A couple more bottom lip tremblers Randy Brown - "I'd rather hurt myself (than hurt you)" Bobby Taylor - "Does your mama know about me"
  14. I heard the Mike Reid version on a Bob Harris show some time ago. He's the guy that used to be an American Football player with the Cincinnati Bengals, quite a talented guy. Julie London - oh yes!
  15. Tone, only in the very broadest sense would I consider Bonnie Raitt non-soul. Mindful of the soul police when I quoted that, and besides I've a thing for redheads! She absolutely brings me to my knees when I hear this.
  16. £50 per JM's latest
  17. Soul choice "Signing off with love" by the late and lamented Johnny Taylor. Non soul "I can't make you love me" Bonnie Raitt. These two will do it for me everytime.
  18. £50 per JM's latest
  19. It's also listed as "Looking for love"
  20. Sharp intake of breath! JM's latest has it at £1700
  21. 4th edition has the demo at £50 and the issue at £75.
  22. Just listening to the Cheques - "Deeper " on Heatwave, makes me wonder, are there many tracks on the scene that feature whistling?
  23. Just to say that 4 copies of the Billy Gale issue have gone through ebay in the last 18 months for considerably less than £250
  24. Billy Gales is in JM's latest at £250
