When I'm cremated I want the following...... Nine times out of Ten - Muriel Day The Snake - Al Wilson Tribute to Betty - DJ Genisis I dont want them actually 'Played' at my cremation, I want the fookin hateful things melted in the coffin with me!.
  2. I always thought Back Drops were more Ted than Soul and never really seen that many doing them back in the day, most I knew had moved onto the 'Kung Fu' influenced moves, ie the high Kicks and full centre splits etc....
  3. I thought that Pete, but wasn't 'The Jades' a later normal night play?..
  4. Along with the art of being able to construct the most basic of 2-step dances, dressing in something approaching fashion from this century and not forgetting the highly trained art of opening one's ears to something thats not on a Goldsoul CD!!..
  5. Thanks again Pete for posting these up..... and nice to hear some 'Proper' clapping!.
  6. I'm sure we've all heard these tracks countless times since 77 without giving them much thought, but hearing them live at Wigan again takes them to a whole new level...
  7. RIP Herb and thanks for the wonderful music....

  9. Likewise I think it's a fantastic track but playing it at you're typical handbagger/fancy dress night would result in an empty floor and much scratching of bald heads - however playing it at a rarer night would result in much scratching of chins so it's not often it see's a set of decks...
  10. Thanks for posting this Pete.... Easy to forget what it was like when you were hearing many of these tracks for the first time yet we're often told these were the 'Shite' years at Wigan... Could also add 'Hide and Seek' to the not heard since the club died thread..
  11. 7 Dwarfs would be in my top ten 'Oldies' but the comment below taken from the Youtube listing for 'Stop Girl' is typical.... "60s psyco - pop ... not northern at all......in other words CRAP.!!!!! ... sorry if ive upset anyone but its the truth and yes it was played at the old wig wam as we all know..good upload sound wise by kev but craps still crap....apart from that we always get good quality uploads from kev keep up the good work mate ...KTF..."
  12. Ditto....and I'd sooner have most of those tracks if it meant I wouldn't have to listen to 'Man of Value' or 'Standing on Solid Ground' or fookin Tribute to Betty Swallocks again.
  13. Never heard this since Wigan, either.....
  14. A lot of the CC stuff from Wigan died with Station Rd (thankfully) not heard Lorraine Silver or Muriel Day for a long long time (again thankfully).
  15. The sad thing is 90% of the scene have never and will never get chance to listen to tracks like these...... Their loss.
  16. Words fail me!!....
  17. I only wish the 'Silly Woman' had left the freezing reptile where it was then Poor old Al would have had nothing to sing about.....
  18. I'll aim a little lower next time then Gordon....
  19. Surely the Worlds No1 DJ has to be found at the worlds No1 allnighter.....

Wheres James Corden when you need him?....
  21. Just imagine being a teenager again and hearing these tracks for the first time.... Nice choices, Nat.
  22. A few more punters and a few less DJ's could never be a bad thing....
  23. I keep reading that we need to "encourage" kids onto the scene so it can survive (strangely nobody 'encouraged' me back then - I went out and found it) yet the scene has had huge success in recent years in 'encouraging' peope to join, trouble is to get them to join (and then stay) you have to put on your typical 'Local Soul' type nite so we've just ended up going backwards. The music was and is always going to be a sub-genre with limited mass-market appeal, try to give it more appeal and you'll just be swapping a disco full of pensioners (like we have now) for a disco full of kids.....
  24. I'll admit that a full head of hair, a flat stomach and a set of 'pins' that don't look like a piece of prime Stilton makes the clothes look a tad better but why oh why does someone in their 50's feel the need to dress up like we're still living in the 3-day-week?. It's fair to say much of the scene is now little more than a retro disco for 50-somethings and that I assume people see the dressing up as part of this - trouble is we're now getting past 'Retro' and getting into the realms of parody with these ever increasingly bizarre outfits that some seem to be wearing, Looking through the galley pic's see's outfits that would have looked silly at Wigan in 1977 let alone on someone pushing pensionable age in 2012. It reminds me of someone going to a fancy dress party as Elvis, they never go dressed like him when he was a good looking 21 year old, they always do the comedy hair/sideburns thing with the big collars and sequined jump suits. Is this REALLY how we want to be seen?.....
  25. If only the same could be said for all those 'pensioners' there who feel the need to dress up in what are getting increasingly bizarre period costumes......
