The Tears Of A Clown
So is the Tamla Motown version the one that you all "grew up" with? The vocal phrasing is pretty different from the one I'm used to hearing on U.S. radio and on my U.S. 45 (and albums)...right from the start, Smokey goes down instead of up and up instead of down (on "fool" and "public", if you know what I mean....Or is it only the Spanish 45 that has this vocal take?

You mind posting the winning offer when you're done? Been wondering what this goes for. Thanks.

Reduced Set Sale With Sound Files
There's a third version of the Carol Jones! Looks like your second one, doesn't have strings on the 'Destroy' side, but definitely two different takes from the striped one.

Cain & Able
Kev: It's Kane, not Cain. And I'm 99 percent certain it's a white act. I played it on the radio here: https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/33798

Cain & Able
Well, I have a copy. I've never seen another one. Has someone been playing it? I think it's great blue-eyed soul, and I wouldn't sell it.

Artists In Film Cameos
Ah, you beat me to Stu Gardner in "Point Blank"! Cool nightclub scene. Jim Jarmusch's "Mystery Train" has Rufus Thomas, Marvelle Thomas, and Screamin' Jay Hawkins in bit parts. TV's "The Rockford Files" has Isaac Hayes in a recurring role; in one episode, he's trying to manage a struggling nightclub singer played by Dionne Warwick...and there are even some 45s involved in the plot!

Jeanette Nellis: Anyone Know This Good Chess Oddity?
Just found it yesterday: Jeanette Nellis, Let's Get Together/Wait (Chess 1855) It's from 1963, according to the discography. Two pretty excellent early soul/R&B sides. Not completely mind-blowing, but very solid; what IS mind-blowing is that a very good Chess 45 could be so seemingly obscure. Google brings up the Chess discography and that's it. No playlists, no sales sites, no compilations, no nothing. Anyone know anything about it? Thanks, M

The Pacesetters - Im Gonna Make It
One of my all-time favorites. Uptempo A-side always causes a sensation and B is an achingly beautiful sweet ballad. Amazing record. Who were they???

Heavy And The Soul Mates On Lucky Token
Right, I got it for "Malty Papa" years ago, but then I read somewhere that the other side is the backing track to a well-known northern vocal....
-
Need Help To Id This Soul 45
Ha, the guitar and piano and even the sax when he takes a solo seem to be playing "Shotgun"! You sure this was released? Sounds like an outtake. An acetate, maybe?
-
Heavy And The Soul Mates On Lucky Token
Can't be much, can it? Rare, yeah, but desirable to anyone? Isn't one side the backing track to a northern anthem? But no vocals...
