I remember at Cleethorpes some ten years ago, John Anderson having a green one for £500.
  2. Is the Barbera Green available on a 7"? Great track.
  3. Due to a non runner up for grabs again. Spotless labels, at least vg++vinyl. £600 ovno. PM's please or email dgreet211@btinternet.com Paypal as a gift preferred but anything will do, apart from Green Shield stamps!!
  4. Nice clean copy of a tough to find beauty. Spotless labels, vinyl at least vg++. £600 ovno. PM me or email dgreet211@btinternet.com. Thanks for looking. Dave
  5. Dead right Terry A dj can always tactfully decline a booking if he knows his box won't please the people there. You don't have to say yes everytime you are asked. Just as the promoter will know what a dj plays, it's odds on the dj will know about the crowd he's being asked to play to. See you at Lifeline.

Not the greatest compliment you can pay Richard Searling is it? Hitting up some ZZZ's while he is on.

I can remember going a few times in 79 I think. There was no gear to be had anywhere in the country. Just a few hundred in and most of those were asleep on their holdalls by three o'clock. It was'nt always packed dancefloor and thunderous clapping.
  8. One of the best pieces of writing I've ever had the pleasure to read was in Black Music. A lot of people will remember this. Their first feature on Northern Soul. Tony Cummings visited Whitchurch, The Mecca and I think Newcastle Tiffs. The aforementioned piece of writing was where Eddie Foster falls asleep in his car and his spirit crosses the Atlantic to where people are dancing to "I never knew" at Newcastle Tiffs. Spine tingling stuff, even now.

Every week virtually. Perhaps the Mecca first then we come down the other way. Then Cleethorpes started attracting us. Another long hike. But hey, when you've got a cassette player and great buddies with you, who cares?

Every time we went past the road sign that said Junction 25, A49 Wigan, at least two of us would say. "We're going to steal that one day". Never did. Mind you, it's not the sort of thing you can fit in the boot of a Ford Escort! But we were'nt exactly thinking straight by the time we got that close. FANTASTIC TIMES!!!
  11. I have a nice clean copy on UK Stax but it has no centre. £75 if you want it. Best wishes Dave
  12. Cheers mate. I'll put a post up.
  13. Wish I did'nt live so far South. Tremendous playlists. Can anybody contact Trev Thomas (an old mate from Southampton) and either get him to pm me or could somebody pm me his phone number (better ask him first). Many Thanks Dave
  14. Brilliant record Nev. I remember us having a conversation about this a while ago. It's an old John Manship spin. Surely someone with taste will buy it!!
  15. Seeing as so many people are chasing it, up for grabs is the Stateside album with the aforementioned track. Cover is ex, vinyl is probably ex+. Best offer by 7pm Friday gets it. PM's or email to dgreet211@btinternet.com. ATB Dave
  16. Nice clean copy wanted. I know Brownie has one up at the moment. Five hundred plus waiting depending on condition. Still wanting the Promatics on Brown Door as well. C'mon guys, there's a recession on, everyone needs some cash! All pm's answered. Dave
  17. Nice clean copy wanted please. I know there's one on PB's at the moment but I would rather buy privately. PM me or email dgreet211@btinternet.com. My piggybank is waiting to be emptied.
  18. Certainly one of the best blue eyed dancers from the late seventies. Graded at vg+ though probably better. One scuff that is about a quarter of an inch deep and runs about a third of the circumference of the disc. Few marks and tiny wol Plays absolutely perfect. £125 inc p+p. Paypal as a gift, cheque or cash is fine. PM or email dgreet211@btinternet.com.
  19. Promatics on Brown Door, I think I'm gonna let you go. Nice clean copy wanted. All pms answered. Many Thanks, Dave.
  20. It's going to be a bit inconclusive, this thread, I think. How do you gauge the biggest records? I suppose it has to be dance floor reaction. And if that is the case there would be dozens. Let's not forget this was back in the day when people were far more "energetic". Yate was also very oldies orientated, even then. Clarkie was always the most forward thinking dj there, although most of us had our moments. The crowd there were great. You probably could'nt have cleared the floor with a hand grenade at any time of the night. So if you can figure out the most popular records played there, well done!! I always remember these three from my box doing pretty well. Marie Knight. That's no way to treat a girl. Gerri Grainger. I go to pieces. Frankie beverley. Because of my heart.

Eddie Regan or should I say "John Madara Play the game of love", And Sam playing the wonderful Betty Fikes. And a gorgeous dark skinned girl from Norwich, I think, all of us from Southampton were in love with. Great times.
