  1. Thanks Jez, doing Ashton Ukrainian on Saturday so got 2 nights at Hyde Village and driving down from there
  2. I should be there good and early for my first visit, provided there's no major traffic problems driving up from Kent.
  3. I see nothing wrong with that. In fact, well done to them if they did. Many artists enticed to play in the UK or Europe are either plucked from semi obscurity or from the cabaret circuit where they now perform. Guidance on which tunes from their current or past repertoire might be best suited to the audience they are booked to perform for can only be a good thing. I'm no great Bobby Taylor fan and I don't know about that tune being his biggest hit, but I've just heard it for the first time and I'd be happy not to hear it again.
  4. Just about to set off from wet and cloudy Kent. See you good people later.
  5. Bringing an Ashton virgin along this time. Picking up Steve Goldsbrough in London. Originally a Burnley lad Steve is now an honorary Southerner, much like myself. He won't want to go home! Happy Birthday Steve.
  6. A late arrival for me. Driving down after the Bletsoe re-union to claim my anniversary ticket.
  7. I viewed the first 3 episodes and found the storyline fascinating and well portrayed. I'd heard of a victim's mother frequenting the Lockerbie site and laying in the depression in the ground which she believed was caused by her daughter hitting the ground, in order to feel closer to her. I was surprised that the attention to detail in the first half of the series even included that. Then I watched part four and the conspiracy theory began in earnest. I can understand Jim Swire as a grief stricken father wanting to uncover the truth but c'mon. Abdel Basset al Megrahi was as guilty as sin. I didn't bother watching the final episode.

On my last visit to Ashton I spent most of my time in the 'record bar' and didn't dance once. This one saw me on the floor more often than not. I enjoyed both nights equally. It's that sort of venue. Apologies for taking up too much of Carl's time. I first met him at Boomerang a decade ago. It's been a while and the beer and reminiscing just flowed. Anyway guys, another top night with a perfect blend of resident and guest dj's. Brilliant sets throughout, and well worth my 10 hour round trip. See you all soon.
  8. Hi guys. I missed the last one due to illness and as you probably know, this one clashes with the 100 Club. ...See you Saturday then!
  9. Setting off now!
  10. Just setting off from sunny Gillingham. I haven't checked those northern weather reports so hopefully a snowless journey. This'll be a belter. Yet to be disappointed with this venue, see you later. - Kev
  11. PM'd you.
  12. Hotel booked, bag packed, belly filled and car fueled. Setting off now for my favourite soul club. See you all later. - Kev
  13. Apologies. As per usual I messed up. Have heavily edited my previous to reflect this, - Kev
  14. Hip To Your Game is by far the superior side in my opinion.
  15. It's a long way to come to watch football on TV. I wonder what the chances are of getting back to my hotel to watch it on catch-up without hearing the result?
  16. Hi guys, really enjoyed the last one. Can you confirm John Parker is on the line-up for this one? My usual haunt, the 100 Club, has cancelled so I might come up for round 2. - Kev
  17. ******* CANCELLED ******* Just received a 6t's email stating that this niter is cancelled, as are the April and October '23 dates. I'm sure @Ady Croasdell and/or @Mattbolton will fully update soon. - Kev
  18. Travelling solo mate. Car ready to go and Travelodge booked. Geoff (and his great detailed reviews) and Derek Watmough have convinced me to finally make the trip- it wasn't hard to do! See you tomorrow!
  19. It's all right Stu, I'll bring my own. I find that since I disgarded the baggy trousers a mankini is the only way of getting freedom of movement for dancing.
  20. Guys, I know Sean will get the send-off he deserves tomorrow. I unfortunately won't be in attendance as the worst clash of events that I've ever encountered means that I will be at my son's wedding on the same afternoon. Maybe see some of you at the 100 Club on Saturday - though all things considered that's not guaranteed for me either. - Kev.
  21. I saw Sean at the last 3 or 4 100 Club niters, following one of his involuntary periods of absence. It was great to see him back but he didn't seem quite himself to me. When I asked if he was alright I just got one of his stock answers.. "it'll all come out in the wash." Pleased to have known you fellah, and saddened to see you go. Rest in Peace No1. - Kev.
  22. A Merry Christmas and a safe and soulful New Year to one and all. - Kev
  23. Haha, that is the cheerful bit cos it rhymes with booze. I deleted the rest and it wouldn't let me delete the whole post. Merry Christmas!
