  2. Doubtless there'll be some who, justifiably, think we are. Then again, I also reckon some of us see some of them as buffoons who think we can be dictated to and had over all day long. It's all good fun though. On the subject of 'how rare', I always think anyone asking about 'known' copies would make it a more sensible question if they added the words 'among people currently active on the scene'. Gawd knows what's where and how many copies of stuff actually exist. Personally, I do quite like the guesswork that goes with collecting but I'm also realistic enough to maintain a healthy degree of scepticism if someone offers me a 'X known copies' record. Also, as people have already said, there are bound to be plenty tucked away for various reasons and deep, group and a raft of other collectors who chase the same records but for very different reasons. Personally, I'm not sure about the scale of the Japanese / world-wide demand thing; an urban myth maybe which is built on perhaps a handful of quite wealthy individuals who buy heavy end records at auction? Dunno, Flynny would possibly be able to answer that insofar as Japan is concerned but who knows for sure?

  12. Tough record I know but just on the off chance ... Cheers Phil
  13. I'd bloody love an instrumental of it. That backing track is a beautiful thing.
  14. Said it before and doubt very much it'd ever happen because of all of the above but I'd turn up at the equivalent of what used to be the Ritz 'rarest of the rare' say three times a year. I think we're all realistic to know it ain't what it used to be and, for all the reasons already stated, it ain't gonna be again, not ever. What the vast majority of nites are missing is, I think, the atmosphere and different buzz you get altogether from hearing records in a big room with a packed, bouncing dancefloor. Personally, I can take or leave the back room of a pub with 12 people in and well meaning folk playing records which, if we're honest, ain't really up to it in the main. I'll take a chinese and fall asleep on the sofa rather than make the effort for that, and do most weekends. There's loads of things on but, with no disrespect to anyone, how many of em would encourage a 47 year old bloke with two kids who's worked his nads off all week and been going out pretty solidly for 30 years+ make the extra effort? Very few. Old, tired, going even balder and thoroughly bored with most of it to be perfectly honest. Always looking and hoping though; you gotta ain't ya.

Bargain John Tee used to fetch more than that at one time.
  20. I have them already Mark or I'd take em without a moments hesitation. Hardly storming dancers lol but as soulfull as you like IMHO. Come closer ... is one of my all-time favourite records and at twenty quid for the four I'm struggling to see how you can go wrong really.. atb Phil
  21. Sterling work Chalks, cheers Kinell they were fabulous times! I knew nowt and no one but absolutely loved everything about it; these took me right back to the riviera
  22. Thanks so much for that mate, really appreciate it! I'd agree absolutely on it being a rare record. I did have a demo some time ago which ended up with Ian Cunliffe who still plays it out when he DJs. (He's had some tackle over the years for sure but never had this before; he also thinks its dog rare). If I can raise what I need elsewhere I'll gladly hang onto it to be honest. cheers Phil
  23. Need some dosh so following 45s for sale. All v. strictly graded. Let me know if I'm miles out on any prices! Tommy Rodgers - pass the word (AJP) £125 Ex+ SOLD Red tick and name written on label otherwise lovely condition all round. Massive demand it seems. Freddie North - the hurt (RIC issue) strong vg+ £75 Grubby label, light marks dnap. Not shagged! Johnnie Mae Matthews - two sided thing (Big Hit) vg+/+ £60 SOLD Absolute stormer with a bit of a 'fernky' edge. The odd v light mark and one heavier one; none affect play Little David - I want the good life (Symphony) Ex+ £90 SOLD Rare, obscure & downright quirky NY 'rhythm n soul' (I've heard someone call it lol). Had the odd play here n there over the years but largely unknown and a toughie to turn up. Not everyone's bag I'll wager but dark n moody and I love it (but I'm skint unfortunately) Bobby Taylor - there are roses somewhere (Sunflower w/d) strong vg++ £70 Money back if you're unhappy, no dramas (You send it back safe n sound and I'll reimburse you straight away. Check my feedback) Postage will be signed-for or Spec Del Cheers Phil
  24. Strands is SOLD so just the one left now ... Little Dooley & the Fabulous Tears - you twine so fine (Baylor) yellow issue You seem to see LD's other 45s pretty frequently but not this gritty-edged all-nighter groover for some reason and it's the one to have IMHO Condition is vg++ Labels a tad grubby maybe but nothing too significant at all and no pen, tears, stickers etc. Vinyl has v light scuffs here n there but nothing of any real note and dnap; plays loud n proud Min bid £350 Someone has very kindly posted a clip below. I'll gladly sort scans and play it over the phone for anyone who's seriously interested and needs to hear it. Money back if you're unhappy of course. I'll do postage in the UK and it'll be SD. End 6pm Sunday or sooner if I get a price I think is fair for it. PM offers / interest. Cheers Phil
