I agree with you that Funk is a sub genre, but If musical difference is the varying element in the equation, then someone better invent a whole load more sub genres. eg :- Pyramid - Soul Bros Inc...... Breakaway - Steve Karmen.... Charles Mintz - Running Back ......The Invitataions - Skiing in the snow............ are all described in Manships as Northern Soul, how does that one work ??? Not an easy item to obtain. Originally played (to my knowledge) by Dave Ripolles at Prestatyn, and played out frequently by Gary Holyman and myself over the past 3 years or so.It always generates an intrest in both crossover and, progresive northern venues.

When the Casino was demolished I managed to salvage one of the urinals from the demolition team. Still have it to this day, occasionally I go into the lock up where it is stored just to sniff the nostalgia . On a particularly good day with the wind in the right direction you can actually smell just how shite it really was.

Around 30 yrs ago at Bolton market I bought a copy of Barbara Mills on (UK) WHITE HICKORY which had a ink fingerprint on the label. It would have been impossible to remove without causing serious damage and it was certainley still on when I sold it a couple of years later. Over the years I've very often wondered who has it now. I cant believe that it would have ever been sold to anyone other than a serious collector and maybe someone on here ? Great topic btw
