It's an absolute abomination! My wife tells me it's a staple tune at her Zumba class.
  2. Not sure if these have been clocked, I am just a sucker for this. Might be wise to listen before watching!
  3. He'd been on the ale and was feeling sicker and sicker as the song progressed, leading to his disappearance to go and throw up.
  4. Absolutely agree. The only JW tune I prefer another version of.
  5. A real cheap one for me today.
  6. I'd be keen to hear the outtakes you have please Pete. I know you've been a serious Bowie collector so suspect you have lots of interesting stuff. Seventies - early eighties Bowie was great but my favourite song will always be I'm Not Losing Sleep. It's been at the top of my non soul list for years.
  7. He's a proper vinyl hound, and a really nice bloke too. I've seen him live a couple of times. Here's a DJ set he did at Xmas
  8. A bit of a big compilation from me. Rare Soul: Groove & Grind 1963-1973 is a four disc set that I don't think I have seen mentioned on SS. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B019GLEONM?keywords=Rare%20Soul%3A%20Groove%20%26%20Grind%201963-1973&qid=1450380428&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 I am pleased to say I got mine for significantly less than the current amazon price. There are some real rarities on this and I really rate it. The records were provided by Billy Vera, James Austin and Victor Pearlin. Bill Dahl did the liner notes in the very impressive book it's all packaged in.
  9. This is a great set. Ivy Jo's tracks are cracking. I particularly like the alternate versions of Can't Break the Habit and Baby You Know You Ain't Right.
  10. I ain't gonna cheat no more - Wee Willie Walker
  11. I have no problem with this comp at all, a nice mixture of obvious, not so obvious and the odd blinder. Being 57, I'm not in the target demographic at all, but I'm all in favour of young soulies who go out dancing regularly utilizing their internet fame to have some fun and make a few quid. Yes, Richard does a better job but he's a bit more experienced. Let's all lighten up and be a bit supportive of her efforts!
  12. Back by Popular Demand All Over the World Weak Spot Your Magic Put a Spell on Me Footsteps Man Up In the Sky And that's pretty much it.
  13. We were in Paris last weekend. This is the scene at Opera Metro at 11.00 on Sunday morning. There was nobody else to be seen.
  14. Thanks for these Ray, they're spot on. Cheers John
  15. Hi Ray, Paypal payment sent in the hope you've still got a couple. Cheers John
  16. What a great playlist! Swansea would be a trek for me sadly!
  17. Congratulations Mike, Soul Source is the font of all knowledge for all things soulful. From what to records buy to where to go dancing and all points in between, it's my first port of call. Thanks for all your hard work. Cheers John
  18. I'm not sure that this is right Pete, I talked to Sam Moore a few years back and he said he received no royalties from the airplay of the Sam & Dave tunes over a 40 year period. He said the contracts they were conned into were OK while they were making hit records but once the hits had dried up, he could only earn decent money from relentless touring. All the airplay cash bypasses the artists. Given how many times a day Soul Man gets played on the radio somewhere in the world, somebody is making a few quid. I also guess OV's capacity for earning from touring was a bit time limited.
  19. If you don't have a big grin on your face after watching this........
  20. I have lots of good memories, unfortunately, they are completely unreliable. The older I get, the better dancer I was.....
  21. Reading the Manship results just doesn't seem the same without Joe kicking off the thread. RIP.
  22. Stone Foundation are always good live. I might have to bugger off before Mr Charles starts his audience participation set.....
  23. Yep, that was it. Nude night was the one with very cheap drinks before 11. Bar staff used to see us beer monsters coming and run.
  24. Used to be some good stuff played at Nude Night at the Hac. Don't Leave Me Starving : H-D-H for me.
  25. The album's all good, but this is the standout track. Sounds like she's been listening to some Sharon Jones!
