Northern Soul 'urban Myths'
I love reading this stuff, more please! Would also like to know if the story of someone jumping off the balcony at Wigan to dance to Sandi Sheldon is true or false.

Dublin Record Shops
You'll be lucky. As far as i'm aware, finding soul records in Dublin is as rare as finding a leprechaun. Then again, i'm only a country boy from down south so i may be proved wrong. Either way, best of luck and enjoy Dublin.

Willie Tee ... Walking Up A One Way Street
Totally agree. Both records are just pure class. Check out the sublime flip to "Thank You John" titled "Dedicated To You". Spine tingling stuff!

Best 'second Room'
The small room that Steve Cato ran at Soul Revolution in London was just sublime. I heard some amazing records in there and the atmosphere was superb.

Speaking The Unspeakable - Soul Blind Spots
Mine is Don Ray "Born A Loser". I heard people raving about this years ago and when i eventually heard it, i thought it sounded like a bad Eurovision Song Contest entry. Oh and am i the only person that simply doesn't get why The Delcos "Arabia" is so popular?

Exceptions
Brilliant record, i was one of the bidders that lost out on that auction There's another version of this (an unreleased one that appeared on a Grapevine Compilation, i think) that's far superior though IMO. Maybe someone on here could shed some light on it.

Imperial C's On Ebay
This seller is a joke, had some dealings with him in the past. His attitude and manner leave a lot to be desired and his grading is unrealistic to say the least. My advice is to actually make him a realistic offer and he will eventually sell it to you at that price (i have gotten 3 records from him by doing this) but i would also advise you to be careful dealing with him because he's an absolute wanker!

What Song?
Brilliant track, cool video (even though he did throw the scooter to the ground) I suppose it could be classed as a tailor made, it's just a faster version of "Stoned Love" really. I too confess to liking the Style Council (there, i've said it!).

Most Difficult Choon To Dance To
Agree with you 100%, it's all over the place rhythm wise and my poor feet don't know what to do!

Great l.p. which also features the brilliant "Sha La Bandit" and worth buying just for the funky picture of Aretha on the cover

Info Needed On These 2 Please
Cheers for that, was pretty sure Eddie Regan was a boot but as i recall i purchased the Little Hank 45 on eBay a LONG time ago where it was listed as a dutch pressing (i think) and didn't have a scan so i took a chance. I won it for peanuts so i didn't really mind.

Georgie Fame
I think i prefer the backing track on the Georgie Fame version but prefer the vocal on the Billy Stewart version Speaking of Georgie Fame covers, i actually prefer his version of "Sweet Thing" to the Spinners version, will i get my coat?

What's Happened To The Day's
Kinda surprised by the amount of negativity on here sometimes myself but as i live across the pond, i am merely on the outside looking in so don't really know anybody that posts on here so don't really understand a lot of it to be honest . In Ireland the numbers are obviously a LOT smaller so the scale of negativity is obviously a lot smaller but it still goes on. It's just the nature of the beast i guess that some people are never happy unless they're moaning about something. As for the feeling of Togetherness, that still exists over here because of the afore mentioned smaller numbers and the appreciation of the fact that we actually have somewhere to go once a month to hear and dance to this beautiful music.

Alfie Davison 12" Wanted
Still looking for this so if anyone's got an original copy, please get in touch.

Uptown Downtown
In my opinion, a perfect example of Uptown Soul would be Maxine Brown "Since I Found You" and a perfect example of Downtown soul would be Carl Holmes & The Commanders "Soul Dance No. 3". Either way, it's all good
