  1. Please note that these are estimates as different DJs who DJ in a local area will be cheaper than at the other end of the country, also over years of knowing each other sometimes you have a good night and over pay as you get in extra people, some DJs give 100% wages in the charity box at the end of the night, yes I've had that done a few time, others say just give me £20 to cover my petrol. I know of one well known DJ who DJed recently who traveled over 360 miles round trip for a 1 hour spot for £50 which he agreed before he went - why because he still has the buzz of djing and soul music. That's 6 hours traveling plus fuel for £50 - it's a hobby ? The actual fees that promotors pay I guess is that grey area - so without names: Top dogs 150 - 250 mid range 50 - 120 Troop DJs 30 - 40 Pub hobby spinners 10 - 20 Hobby DJS A few pints - don't care

  6. Back in the 70ts there was only a handful of supermarkets however thinking in the same vein - if Lidls had been around would the slang name for this tune be "A Lidl bit hurts" https://youtu.be/GSZ4y0zzvUI
  7. Trouble with hearing bits like this - every time you hear the record, your waiting for the tap to come in - bit like listening to Manifesto back in the 70ts we use to replace that word with "shop at tescos" now many years later in my head it's still programmed SHOP AT TESCOS

  13. Pete, Was at LAX last week with two hours to kill, flicked through my iPad, plugged in the big boys headphones and was transported back to the Casino years, thanks for the sounds storming amphetamine driven, I can almost smell the sweat. Keep doing what your doing
  14. Last week, Just brought the 63 split window corvette off of the Vice President of Capitol Records LA - when I asked him casually "have you ever heard of soul music called Northern Soul" he said no, but he did tell me a few stories of in the old days ?
  15. We all look back at various milestones and memories in our life, when we got married, children, divorce, winning or loosing the FA cup , soul venues the list go on, how ever Brian started DJ,ing his proper full gig on Aug 7th 1965 - that's 50 years. Brian's enthusiasm back in the mid 70'S at the Casino was a major influence on me and I know thousands of others stomping away the night, gasping for air and chewing there necks off. A True Northern Soul Hero and effing Legend, long may he reign. Perterborough Soul Club
