Well, I like it, it's a great early Detroit mid-tempo tune, had some plays at the better venues a few years back (I'm sure I played it at Bretby back in the day ). I think refosoul's back up (well it was working this morning), so I'll try to post it tomorrow.

Different song Chris, the track on the Kapp LP is "They Say I'm Afraid (Of Losing You)". I last saw the Samo 45 for sale @ 75, but not seen very often.
  5. I bought the CD as a new release from CDBaby a while back, and was totally blown away by the quality, particularly with the deep ballad "Why Me" which is worth buying the CD for alone. Have included "Break Out The Tears" in sets ever since, and it always has people to the decks to check the details (with a good few shocked to see that it's a new release, and not on vinyl ). It's great to see quality tracks like this getting recognition and UK vinyl release....these are the tunes we should be talking about.
  6. If anybody feels like turfing this out of their hotbox.....PM me Cash waiting Ta

I've got Shirley Combs, and it's the same backing track as Natural Four, which I also have on Boola-Boola, and ABC....also agree that the flip is much the better side . I'm sure I've posted one or both sides on the Sweet & Deep thread.
  8. Ain't that the truth
  9. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout .......tune.....
  10. I can't stop playing the new Angela Johnson CD, there's a great mix of deeper and mid-tempo tunes, with stand out tracks for me being Wait on A Maybe with Marlon Saunders, and Cryin' Over You with Angus & Lisala Other recent CDs well worth picking up are Blak Ice, Gordon Nelson, and Tina Broussard....
  11. I'd say it's rarer than the Just Brothers on Veep
  12. All prices significantly reduced......some real bargains to be had here
  13. Deffo a soul singer on the Sounds Of Memphis 45 Mark

  15. Just dug out Tomorrow's Wish, since I hadn't played it in yonks, and "My Love With You" sounds so close to Tearra, so it's not surprising to now read she may have been in the group line up. Be interested to see the discogoraphy and background info when you find it
  16. I thought the XL release was legend.....never, ever seen one I always found Lou Roberts to be a bit on the cheesey side, though "She's Not Mama's Little Girl" on Sounds Of Memphis is a superb tune

Hard to believe that this is even up for debate, two records at complete opposite ends of the soul scale. Arthur Willis is without doubt a proper soul record, and Joe Jamma is an awful Chicano wannabe that completely fails to find any soul footing.....just my opinion...but I know I'm right And for what it's worth Mr DArcy...you're way over the top at 30% Right, can we have the next two contestants....DJ Genesis vs Robert Tanner perhaps, it's just about as relevant
  18. ...same old, same old.... Big tune whilst you were taking your "rest"
  19. Hi Kev, yep, you're right the boot has a very wide dead wax, with moulded label. The original has a stuck on label, with a depression about 0.5cms towards the contre hole.... ....so that's the anorak stuff dealt with...more importantly, Elevator Song is a great tune, used to play it regularly in the days before mid-tempo Northern was relabelled as crossover

  23. Yeah, Mr. DArcy's never had an ear for anything past '69, Anne Sexton on Impel 30 quid and Earl White Jr for a tenner bagged from his sales box back in the day Still, I let him have a Jimmy Mack on Palmer for 75 so it wasn't all one way traffic
