  1. I only ever sell "Fragile Handle With Care" by Sam Dees to avoid the need for expensive packaging and save the environment! Ian D
  2. Big big thanks to everyone who joined me this Sunday afternoon and made the show go with a real swing! The Starpoint chatroom was the busiest I've ever seen it and we had our usual bevy of regulars from around the world just to spice things up! A thoroughly brilliant afternoon and hopefully I'll be catching up with many of you on my travels over the next couple of months! Anyway down to business. HUGE interest in the Self Made Millionaire feat Al Mason creatively brilliant re-edit of "Good Lovin'", the usual ton of messages about the incredible Jimmy Michaels remix of Eugene Record's brilliant "Take Everything" (LOVE those steel drums), plenty of enthusiasm for the new Frankie Knuckles tune (which sounds best when it's LOUD) and a stack of enquiries about the absolutely brilliant Onur Engin final re-edit of the Jackson's "Show You The Way To Go" which will finally be available in a couple of months touch wood. All in all, a belter of a show this week folks! Download link below...... 3. If I was rich, I'd buy 'em in a second. I think anyone would be unlikely to amass a similar collection in that sort of condition again and it would probably take 20 years to pick 'em all up if you could. I do know of two more supposed complete collections so it'll be interesting to see what happens to these. Ian D
  4. Wow. That was quick! Straight in @ No.5 on the Amazon pre-release compilation chart @ 9.00am this morning. The master's still got it! Ian D
  5. Nope. The first Marboo's came from Canada I believe and came out on Midland International in the U.S. and Mascara came out in South Africa. Ian D
  6. Funnily enough I do Garv. I'll be posting up in a day or two mate! Ian D

Would today's audiences be capable of appreciating the skills and talents of a guy who was at the forefront of Dance Music history some 40 years ago? Would current audiences be able to understand the subtle nuances and musical interactions of a pioneer mixing records from a bygone era in today's age of instant gratification? In short, would there be ANY kind of audience? The answer to all the above questions was a resounding YES, and then some. "Philly Re-Grooved" Volume 1 was a special release in many ways. Not only was it the 100th release in the 15 year history of Harmless Records but it was also very much a mark of respect to the greatest Remixer of all-time, Tom Moulton. Whilst this would be of great significance to people of the 1960's and 70's, there was really no guarantee that interest in the release would go much beyond the core audience of Disco stalwarts from back in the day. Little did we realise that "Philly Re-Grooved" Volume 1 touched a very significant nerve with ANYONE who loved dance music in the summer of 2010. After decades of being force-fed computer-driven dance music by bedroom producers who decided that they could take the place of professional songwriters, producers, arrangers and musicians, there was a sudden thirst for REAL productions again, namely the kind of records which required consummate experts to craft them and often full orchestras of 40 plus musicians to bring the songs to life. "Philly Re-Grooved" went straight into the UK Top 100 and has been one of Harmless' biggest catalogue-sellers ever since! So welcome to "Philly Re-Grooved - The Tom Moulton Mixes - Volume 2: The Master Returns". Once again Tom goes back to the golden age of 70's Philly and shows his skills on key tracks from First Choice, Quickest Way Out, Ultra High Frequency, Moment Of Truth, Loose Change, TJM and Terry Collins to create another masterpiece and perfect companion to Volume 1. Out in 3 weeks! Ian D

  10. They booted this???? Was this ever a big record? I found it in the early 70's and it sounded way too raw to work back then. When and where was it big? I'm wondering if I sold it to Guy............. Ian D
  11. Off the top of my head......... Craig Pruess "Moving In The Direction Of Love" Ariola Joe Bourne "Born To Satisfy" Pye Peggy Scott "You Got It All" Pinnacle Ward Jensen "Hard Hard Hard" Safari Watson T. Browne "What Can I Say" Pye Ian D

  14. I'd take a leisurely drive down the coast road from L.A. down to San Diego and take in some of the beautiful Orange County spots like Laguna Beach etc and then check out San Diego for a night or two. There's not much between San Diego and Vegas except desert, so you may as well spend the time exploring L.A. to San Diego properly before you do the San Diego-Vegas run. I don't know about record shops these days. The last time I was there was 2003 and I found some bits and pieces at a record fair and I've always bumped into stuff in San Diego but I seem to remember that most of the obvious spots had been well and truly rinsed. I'd check and see if there's any major record fairs when you're there and plan any possible trips around them. Ian D
  15. But at least putting 'em on E-bay or Discogs makes 'em viewable to the world. And it's surprising what people are looking for elsewhere. I've sold lots of stuff that's reasonably common here to foreign buyers who either can't find 'em locally or want generally superior UK pressings. If you're really lucky you could find a Disco completist (yes, lots of people seriously collect Disco, some of 'em on even on here). Also sometimes events conspire to create weird demand for stuff that's everywhere. Every single Jacksons and Michael Jackson record went from my Discogs stock within 12 hours when MJ passed away, not that I'm being Ghoulish or anything. Who knows what can suddenly fan a demand? Good idea to put 'em into genre-based catergories too. I'm actually going through a few thousand Soul/Disco 7" things right now so I might try a few targetted packs out myself.......... Ian D
  16. Slick. As per usual I'll need to grab some more for the archives dammit.......... That's some catalogue....... Ian D
  17. Even I wouldn't have been that presumptious! I always got a kick out of announcing it though. My kinda rekid........... Ian D
  18. Yep. As it happens I've never seen this record but if I had've stumbled into it there's a pretty good chance I'd have just thwacked it on the shelves with thousands of other funky looking or just odd records. Like Dave says, at the time, a record by Everyday People on a Brownstone label would have probably been overlooked or mistaken for the other Brownstone and thus probably concidered to be too funky for serious consideration at the time. Ian D
  19. Nah Malc. I made it to Will's stag night but there was no way I was getting up @ 5.00am to sit in Westminster Abbey all day. I shall wander down to the party in my street in about half-an-hour with a magnum of Uluvka vodka and start spreading some cheer around the neighbourhood. Did I pre-announce "Ton Of Dynamite" by saying "here comes the Loveman" by any chance? Ian D
  20. I wonder if that was my copy being played! Ian D
  21. Ah. So it probably wasn't pressed in the other Brownstone quantities then? Anyone got a label scan? It sure sounds like a funky record though. I wasn't even aware that there was another Brownstone label....also I wonder if it's the same Everyday People who were on Red Coach.....? Ian D
  22. I seem to remember this being around circa '75/'76 but only a couple of people had it to my recollection. I'm pretty sure Sam had it in his box at the time. Never heard it out back then though........ Ian D
  23. That's the story of so many records though. Tons of these kind of titles came through in the 70's and often they'd be bulk buys, more often than not, at 10p each if you bought 1000. I had literally thousands of spares which were unplayable back then but which now make sense. Anything on Brownstone would be an automatic reject back then because it would be classified as Funk full stop. Records like Little Johnny Blair's "Momma's Gone" or even Ann Sexton's "You've Been Gone Too Long" were long shots that defied the odds mainly because the jocks who broke 'em (Levine and Curtis) stuck with 'em against all the odds. We were very elitist about labels back then and some labels were just too funky for their own good. Ian D
  24. Jesus. Are we saying that Paypal's homophobic then......? Ian D
  25. Blimey, that bank holiday weekend went quick. Busy week again folks so no time to wax lyrical this time. Suffice to say, it was the usual Original Mastercuts musical odyssey through several different eras featuring some incredible mixes and some all-round killer tunes. Business as usual then! Plus of course whenever Al and I get together you can guarantee a certain amount of inane banter plus the added attraction of being joined by Dave W just before his show, so a great bank holiday show all round and an absolute gas to co-host!
