Just stumbled over this thread while searching for something on Google! On the first page the rare Canadian mispress of The Atttractions - Destination you - is mentioned. This is the one where the vocals were missed off somehow, so you just get the instrumental backing track. I posted this on YouTube a couple of years back and, having just rediscovered this thread, thought I'd share it with you now... -

Like many on here, I've very few pics of me at nights or nighters. In fact, I can probably count them on one hand. Anyway, I found two that I'd scanned some years back... This is me standing by my mate's rusty motor outside an alldayer in a tiny village hall somewhere in the deep, rural backwoods of Suffolk. I haven't a clue where this might have been and not sure of the year, but reckon it was about 1987. Me and the late Jim Demetriou in a caravan at the Great Yarmouth Weekender in 1990.

If I'm not mistaken, the 45 purchased by the OP was cracked already. So it snapping might well be plausible.

I had an almost identical situation with a seller on eBay just recently. Bought a 45 at what I thought was an acceptable price and paid for registered/tracked shipping. No sign of the 45 a few weeks later. The seller offers excuses, then says they're on holiday, then stops replying to my messages. I make a claim through eBay and get a full refund in the space of about two hours. There was another copy of the 45 on eBay at the same time, courtesy of a different seller, and with a price five times higher than the price I paid. I believe, but can't prove, that the seller I bought from spotted the higher-priced 45 and so chose not to send it to me. The seller is based in England. As has already been said, bad sellers are everywhere.

A very lightweight piece glossing over the facts of their genesis. No mention of James Brown’s one-time go-to manager, roadie, chauffeur and one-off Loma Recod label artist, Walter Foster, who was instrumental in the band’s formation. In checking my archive of soul-related website bookmarks, I’m really disappointed to see Walter has now been written out of the group’s official history on their own website. Once upon a time, and why I archived the bookmark, is that Foster had been given some public dues by the band. Back in 2007, shortly before I made the move from London to the Netherlands, I went to see a unique and much-hyped exhibition at the British Museum devoted to the world-famous Terracotta Army from China. The exhibition received huge amounts of publicity in the run-up to its opening and captured the imagination of the public. Here was a wonderful opportunity to see these near legendary characters up close and personal in an exhibition described by various newspapers as the "Exhibition of the year", "Spellbinding", "Awe inspiring", and so on. The exhibition was a huge success. Caught up in the hype of it all, I too expected to be awe-inspired but actually found it to be very disappointing. There was no "army" of terracotta warriors. In fact, there was just a dozen of them in an exhibition that was really rather small and featured just 120 artefacts in total, which wasn't much considering that many of the items on display were actually very small. My disappointment turned into angry frustration when I read (either in the small print of the exhibition catalogue or as a footnote to a description within the exhibition itself) that a good number of the 12 warriors - the star attractions tens of thousands of people paid good money to come and see - were actually replicas! Put another way, and to bring this round to the Northern Soul scene, they were "reissues"! To me this was a complete deception. I'd come to see THE Terracotta Army, not modern day replicas. And in exactly the same way, when I go to a soul night, I expect to hear THE originals, not reproductions. Taking that a step farther, imagine if it transpired that the British Museum - not content with foisting "reissues" onto an unknowing public - had chosen to display illegally manufactured copies of the famous warriors, and still charged the public the same good money to come and see them. There would be one hell of an outcry. The public, and the media, would be outraged at the barefaced deliberate deception of passing off fakes There would be an almighty scandal. The reputation of the museum would be in tatters. Heads would roll. On the Northern Soul scene, however, it's deemed perfectly acceptable in some quarters to offer the public illegal, unlicensed products manufactured by shady, black market criminals solely for their own illicit financial gain. I think not.

Out with the camera for the first time in way too long. Cycled to the Amsterdam woods and a little nature reserve there called Vogeleiland (Bird island), although it's actually much better for wild flowers than it is birds. Great to be out on a photographic excursion again. Must get back in the habit of doing it more regularly.
