  2. Absolutely gutted to have missed this, had planned to go but had to cancel, was there a good turn out ?, had the honour of DJing there last November on there Soul on Sunday, great club, the owner Warren has a fantastic vision for a City Centre Soul club and is definitely putting his money where his love and belief is (soul music) Kev
  3. Quite right, I can,t imagine life without Sam Dees "Show must go on" Jimmy Lewis "Totally involved" Don Covay "Super Dude" countless Womack and Dells albums, Marvin Gaye "Whats going on" I could go on all night Kev
  4. Incredible selection of soul music, Eddie Holloway and Whole Darn Family mindblowing Kev
  5. Yes it is, note titles, "7" is "People Wake Up And Live", album is "People Wake Up And Give Yourself A Chance" lyrics are different and LP percussion is more profound Kev

The remote was invented or commisioned up here in about 2002, thats when we got swamped up here in the NE by the nostalgia brigade, and the rest as they say is history. Kev
  8. Yeah Chalky, Mexborough ran through 1988, possibly mid 87 not sure, so Jesse wouldn,t have been uncovered then. Didn,t realise that he had had Just Bros all that time though Kev
  9. Hi Chalky Remember the 1st time us lads from the NE heard Butch play it, Guy,s Mexborough, wow, was the reaction, same spot included Chuck Jackson "Whats with this loneliness" and covered up as the Arcades "Are you gonna leave me" (Jesse James of course) you would be hard pushed to hear 3 better or more soulfull records anywhere, but that was par for the course then, Mexborough, fantastic days Kev
  10. Here, here, and thoroughly agree with Jocks last contribution, still refer to late 80,s and early 90,s as "back in the day" cos they were the daysfor all the reasons you and Jock mention Kev
  11. Don,t agree with Skullsnaps Dave, brilliant black record made for black people unlike some of the tailor made pop shit that has been rightly mentioned on this thread Kev

For years it was a £20-£30 record Dave, last year or so Have seen it listed a few times at £100, on more playlists now, Orwell was a great progressive venue Dave which will have done it justice leading the way for that type of sound Kev
  15. Sorry, but corny record, people (like myself) don,t like reminding of the days when they were flying around in 40 inch bottom trousers and bowling shirts, I know it had to start somewhere but compared to what we know now about the music and then, to some its not worth dwelling on and they want to move on Kev
  16. Long thought the scene has morphed into peoples record rooms who swap CD,s with new acquasitions with like minded people consequently compiling wants lists from the CD,s and feedback received, lot of people now have been around so long that they know what they are looking for and where to find it, however, remember well the days reading Paul Mooneys column in Black Echoes and Rod Dearloves "Voices" (before internet) and being put on to loads of great stuff Kev
  17. Dave Turner tip, Ernie Johnson-You,re about to succeed-Ronn just arrived, beautiful Deep Ballad from 1985 Kev
