  1. Agree Chalky, nostalgia rules the waves, been well documented on here, but as you say, it doesn,t look like dying off any time soon Kev
  2. Hi Nev, quality as in not compromising soul content, subjective I know, but its just the way I see it, heard a few sets which included the "funky edge" stuff, quite a bit of it didn,t do it for me, some was good, like I said, subjective but a good subject matter, worth debating. Best Regards Kev
  3. Agree 100% Joan, the need to be alternative has definitely interfered with quality, some of its good, but a lot of it like you say aint good enough, its just alternative Kev
  4. Great statement, happens a lot in the NE, scratching each others backs while keeping the ego,s topped up. Kev
  5. Always loved this Dave, first heard it on a Channel 4 documentary in the early 80,s taped it on VHS, still got the tape.Great shout, BTW, did you get CD, put 1st class stamp on it. Kev

Good advice Roburt, reccommend strongly, from the "Born Free" set by the Hesitations "We Can Do It", brilliant IMHO Kev
  7. Tremendous diversity and quality once again, train tickets already secured for August 12th Kev

Fantastic record, don,t know about being a beat ballad though, just an opinion though Kev
  9. Cheers Bob, no need to hunt for the INS 45 now, disappointed in a way, was looking forward to hearing a longer take of a truly sensational soul record Kev
  10. Have and love Mellow Moods, Little Dooley and Vibrations, anything else on the label in the same league as those 3 Kev
  11. With respect to Tony Steve, doesn,t the inclusion of Ska, Reggae and Rockabilly etc detract from a soul collection Kev
  12. Cheapie on Arctic, as good as anything she,s done IMHO, "Half A Love" Kev
  13. Agree Mike, since Refo was stopped, this is by far the best way to hear stuff that floats your boat, its a bottomless pit I reckon that we pull from if you like all aspacts of this great music, can honestly say, most days I hear something new that I like, CD swap has defo had a massive impact on collecting. Kev
  14. Gil Scott Heron-Winter In America-Strata East LP wanted Please PM with condition and price Kev
  15. Thanks for the input Bob, ironically have and love the Vanguards aswell, will look out for the local issue of Sass Kev
  16. Is the local issue hard Bob, I have the 20th Century issue after hearing it years ago on a sales tape and that is awesome enough, does the extra minute make it even better to your mind Kev
  17. Here, here Benji, the day be coming when sanity prevails and the real stuff, mid-tempo that is will reign supreme again Kev
  18. Gonna theme mine The Campaign For The Return Of Mid-Tempo and All Things Nice guys and girls, hope thats OK with you all Kev
  19. Just got up from night shift and listened to this fantastic essential show, the atmosphere in the studio must have been fantastic, fantastic rapport between two of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet, Gilly,s stories absolutely captivating (can,t wait for Andy and Nicola to complete the book), and the music, well, what did we expect, Peter and the Wolves, "dear me" great stuff Deano and thanks Chalky for sorting it for us folks who couldn,t listen initially, absolute essential l;istening Kev
  20. Personally, I like to see playlists where the guy or gals doing the spinning are thinking outside of the box, places like the aforementioned Sunday Chillout in Doncaster, off the top of my head Tommy Turner "I,ll be gone" on Elbam, the dancefloor ain,t king here so as a result theres no pressure on the DJ and as a result he opens out more musically, point being we lads from the NE would never have stumbled on this gem of a do without the playlists on here Kev
  21. Great call Pete, this thread should run for a month, like the Dells, Bobby Womack etc should have, guess they aint rare enough for some folk Kev
  22. Cross referencing the other thread really Chalky where the topic turned to people who have no minds of their own when it comes to records, ain,t really soul fans and have to wait until so and so plays or says a records good, I think its probably common knowledge who pinch sounds from other people and theres plenty of them about Kev
  23. Totally agree, with peoples liesure time so precious these days, especially those with families, you need to be clear about your choice of venue, I can vouch for the guys who do The Sunday Chillout at Doncaster, we travel regularly now as a result of them posting their brilliant playlists. Kev
  24. Kind words indeed Steve, glad you liked them, suprised I aint already put them on CD for you cos I know they,d be right up your street Kev
