Was also released in Holland on Philips under the title "Well Tempered Soul".
  2. Wow! Is she sweet, or what?

The Essex track is actually from 1963. Funny enough, I also have this on an NZ Roulette 45 (it's the flip side of Easier Said Than Done. which was a UK Top 50 hit), and for some strange reason, 1958 is on the bottom of most of the NZ Roulette labels, but not on the one I have from 1959! There are early Northern tracks dating back to the late '50s - I put up a list of them a couple of years ago. Will post a link to it when I can find it.

I always play it straight off the album. I also play the preceeding two tracks "Ain't That Enough" and "I Cried For You". Now, which one of the three will it be tonight? :search:

    What is it?????
  8. If you like fast jivers, try "Go Go Go" by The Treniers - and flip over "I Put A Spell On You" to reveal a brilliant jiver, "Little Demon"!

The Mala issue, released in 1964, should go for between £300 - £400. The Terriffic reissue from 1973 (actually the B-side to "What's Your Name") should go for between £60 - £100. Also, Paul, I think all Bell subsidiary demos pre-1965 were plastic moulded labels (sometimes black labels rather than blue).
  10. Definitely a '70s counterfeit Mark.......................

You can't get much slower than "I've Had It" by George Smith........................
  12. Yes there is - it's the vinyl lookalike boot with "Don't Lead Me On" as the flip side (well, actually the official A-side).
  13. The lookalike Johnny Hampton bootleg is, in fact, vinyl. Not sure about a matrix stamp though. The styrene bootleg is totally different in appearance; frst the label is credited "Dotty's FROM DETROIT (the original didn't have the last two words). The artist is credited as JOHN HAMPTON (not Johnny), and "Not My Girl" (as far as I know) is on both sides. Hope this helps. Gene
  14. Some of those films were also issued as 8MM sound films for the home market. I had the Screaming Lord Sutch one (presume it's "Jack The Ripper you mean) in 8MM format, but it was black and white. I've got about 3 hours of these on VHS (all pop), done by a friend of mine from a compilation he had. The earliest one of these is "Too Much Tequila" by The Champs, which dates from 1960. It's also the only one in black and white. The majority of them date from 1963 - 1964. PETE - if you wan't 'em copied, drop us a PM mate.
  15. Am I right in saying that Scopitones were bigger in France than the rest of the world during the early to mid-60s?

  20. At a guess, about £20 - £30..............but I am hopelessly out of date with this one.

That really is sad news - worse still, news of THREE soul deaths in the same day. God rest their soul.
