John's funeral service will be held at St Helen's Church in Stapleford, Nottingham, NG9 8FN at 11:30am on the 17 April 2023. Followed by a celebration of John's life at the Kirk Hallam Social Club, Ilkeston, DE7 4GZ where the doors will open from 12:30pm All are welcome to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a great friend and widely respected DJ.

During a trip to Bellmans Yard Soul Club, Newport I had to book Spook as the set he played was as good as they get. Cant wait to see him behind the decks at The Boat.

A couple of last months comments Ted Massey 1,427 December 24, 2022 What a night Mick, Maxine, Lisa and Nick you must be feeling proud for putting on some fantastic events this year and last night was no exception. There’s not many soul nights that can play 70% nighter tunes and have a full floor through out There were folks from all over but the applause must go to Clive and Ruthie for traveling 2.30 hours to attend. After a great year down at The Boat we start a new one with the Christmas special still fresh in our minds (what a night). Following on from last months European weekender with a full house and already booked for next October we get back to our standard 8-1 monthly event. Our first guest (9:30-10:30) is Mark Hopes and its took me over 20 years to book Mark in repayment for those nights at Kirkby-in-Ashfield. (You cant accuse us of "You dj for me and i'll dj for you) The only question is why so long. Our second guest (10:30-11:30) is John Parker with one of the best collections known to man. 15 years for me. I only joined as some dude had a go at me and I needed to reply. Got to say Ive found SS very informative and good for buying and selling. Some of its members are mind blowing with info. Great events calendar to.
