    "The Tower of Power"
  2. I don't think that these have been mentioned yet..... The Patrick Bradley - Just One More Chance (Obviously the Instr NOT vocal) Family Affair - Love Hussle (a Tony Hatch special!) Family Affair was MASSIVE! As has been mentioned previously, tastes and times have changed. As they say "you had to be there" to experience the atmosphere.
  3. A few suggestions.... The Righteous Brothers Band - Rat Race Derek & Ray - Interplay Hank Jacobs - Elijah Rockin With Soul Grand Piano Company - Esperanto The Dogs - Soul Step Harry Betts - Theme from the fantastic flying machine Harley Hatcher - Soul Hustler There's loads of potentials...... (A number of the above have fallen out of favour with current tastes!!)
  4. After a quick check, it looks like there is a 7". On Discogs for $5 but not available to the UK. https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/11668696 Also on the CD - Adventures in Babysitting. Can't see any others, but, I only had a brief look Hope that helps
  5. I always like reading what dealers like Tim and John include in there auctions.
  6. Still looking for: - Major Lance - Monkey Time - Columbia DEMO. Thanks
  7. Hi, I've just played "My Tune" by the Happy Cats. It's like a really crappy version of Bella Dalena by the Marketts. This will remain the one and only time I play it!
  8. Carol Anderson - Sad Girl. Both the FEE original and Grapevine single were released in 1979. So.......... no idea !!! Flaming Emeralds FEE original released just a year before Grapevine.

    Also on BRAZILLIAN STAX!!
  10. I've got the Demo and the dirty looking gold issue. Both have Machine Stamped numbers with another small letter almost opposite. The stamps are in slightly different places in relation to each disc and the run-out grooves. No idea if the "dirty gold" one is an official re-issue, like those small 45 OKEH's, or original. With regard to sound quality, I have other original records which are muffled sound.
  11. Still looking for: - Major Lance - Monkey Time - Columbia DEMO. Thanks
  12. This UK album from 1969 is a near miss for Willie K and the Exciters! "Just A Little Bit Of Soul"

I placed an order for 1 item direct via John's website on the 26th December. Not received yet and "being processed". I'm not concerned or worried bearing in mind the likely number of orders and recent weather conditions. I bought a few records in a previous 1/2 price sale. I think it was to mark his 1,000th sales list!

I'd like to see a Verve STOCK copy of Youngblood Smith (if there is one)
  15. Thanks John, I wasn't aware that this sort of info was available until now! Interesting feature that I'll check out in future (when I remember!)
  16. Hi, thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that. I have an issue already, it's just the Demo I'm after. I've got all his other UK Columbia Demo's except this one. It would be nice to finish the collection!
  17. Another reminder for this one. Please get in touch if you have one for sale.
  18. Perhaps something like the Newbeats - Crying My Heart Out ? Fast-ish tempo, more "Northern Soul" than "Soul". High pitched, Frankie Vali vocal style.
  19. Perhaps that famous Saudi collector Sheikh "Rattle n'Roll" will buy it!!
  20. PM and email sent. Cheers KB
  21. I've picked up 3 of the 4 items I've bid on from Pat's site in the last 12 months. I was happy with the amounts I bid and was successful with. Some things go way higher than my valuation well in advance of the end date and that means I'm out. That may be because of a high bid or reserve. Not bothered which! If it's a high reserve I treat it the same as someone posting a set sale item at a price I think is too high. Cheers KB

  23. Bo Diddley reviewed Bo Diddley's review on an event in Soul Nights

Hi All, I always find it a bit odd when promoters review their own events, but let's give it a go and embrace the discomfort! The night went well, as have the previous nights at Bilston Town Hall. The staff provided by the venue (bar staff, door guardians, sound engineer) are first class - pleasant, helpful and friendly. As I've mentioned before, the venue itself is clean, smart and just perfect for this type of event. The DJs played a mix of music. This included some classic, familiar sounds, less familiar sounds, 60's, 70's, Crossover, RnB, rare, nor so rare and some absolute top notch BIG Tunes. We were very pleased with how things went. I've allocated 4 stars rather than 5. This is simply because, while there was a decent number in on the night, it would have been nice to see more folks in. Due to the nature of the venue and the people who were there, it still created a fantastic atmosphere. Similar to finding a great place to go on holiday before it gets too crowded! The folks that were there seemed to have a great time and it was nice to get feedback on the night from them to confirm. It was really good to see Soul Source member @Soulmate60 and friends there. They made an enquiry on the pre-event thread and, as promised, attended. They were in early and one of the last to leave, dancing all night! Thanks to you and your friends for making the trip and supporting the event. Seeing people enjoying themselves like that really does make it worth putting these nights on. The next one is in March 2025, so onwards and upwards. I hope you can come along and see what this event is all about. All the best, KB

Apologies for the multiple post but I thought it worth mentioning... The BAR is payment by CARD ONLY. Entry on the DOOR is CASH ONLY. Thanks, KB

Last shout for Bilston this evening. Plus.. you get to stay in bed an extra hour the next day! Hope to see some of you there. It's likely that I'll be taking the cash on the door, so please say hello.
